June 5, 2022 a thought for today, A tree cannot stand on the ground without its roots. African Proverb
The upload to the “a month of gratitude” for yesterday was the post office....don’t know what we would do without it even thought we do have email too.Quiet Sunday....just what I need. I was late to the bible study. After that, between the bible study and church service, I met with a friend who I will be doing a special bulletin for in a couple of weeks. After that I enjoyed the service, especially the last hymn Spirit.... “Spirit, spirit of gentleness, blow through the wilderness calling and free.....wind, wind on the sea”. Now to let the new week begin refreshed and ready.... come what may.
I like this view of an empty ball diamond....so I uploaded this image to my Canadian Photo Club.As is usual, for me there, is not much on the agenda today....Sunday. I will get the things that absolutely need to be done out of the way. Then take a “Calgon take me away” soaking bath.
The sun is out, the wind chimes are letting us know they are there and the birds are singing.
The up load to the gratitude month images for today is this one. Grateful for a new day.
The word today is able. Those who are able to see beyond the shadows and lies of their culture will never be understood let alone believed by the masses, Plato. Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide. Napoleon Bonaparte. Go as far as you can see; when you get there you'll be able to see farther. Thomas Carlyle. To be blind is not miserable; not to be able to bear blindness, that is miserable. John Milton. I believe that nothing happens apart from divine determination and decree. We shall never be able to escape from the doctrine of divine predestination - the doctrine that God has foreordained certain people unto eternal life. Charles Spurgeon. Where the press is free and every man able to read, all is safe. Thomas Jefferson. Of puns it has been said that those who most dislike them are those who are least able to utter them. Edgar Allan Poe. Few cross the river of time and are able to reach non-being. Most of them run up and down only on this side of the river. But those who when they know the law follow the path of the law, they shall reach the other shore and go beyond the realm of death. Horace. If we did not have rational souls, we would not be able to believe. Saint Augustine.
My upload for today to the other photo club is a rock and a weed. It had the textures, lines and shapes that give it artful substance. This article tells some more Columbus history, this one about a church. The St. James Lutheran Church located in Hilliard, Ohio was built in 1872 less than ten years from the time of the Civil War. The two acres of land that it is located on cost $12. In the years between its beginning and now there have been only fifteen senior pastors. Their ministries occurred “during the darkness to two world wars, two pandemic and everything in between”. A 175-year anniversary is being planned. After the sermon on June 12 there will be a lunch “provided by on-site food trucks”. The Columbus Maennerchor will preform. The choir will add to the cerebration inside the recently refurbished church. The congregation had raised $65,000 for the anniversary celebration which included the restorations. Existing ceiling murals were cleaned, the altar and baptismal font were “touched up.” Some of the stained glass windows were refurbished. The “rose window” that had been above the altar at the dedication in 1872 was moved to a newer addition of St. James that was built in 2006. On the property is a cemetery where “several veterans of the US Civil War are interred”. According to the history of the church replaced a log cabin that was on the property.
It’s going to be Taco Bell for dinner tonight.

I uploaded this on a day late to my third photo group for the fruits or vegetable theme.
