July 9, 2022 a thought for today, You may hide the fire, but what about the smoke? American Indian Creole
My first upload for yesterday was “out of focus”. That one’s easy....I can do a lot of out of focus captures.
Bob and I got the curbside pick up done a little while ago. It was a different than usual pick up today ....don’t know if it could be called a bona fide “curbside pick up”. The computer system was down so we had to go inside to pay for the groceries. At least they were already selected and bagged so we just had to check them out.
The second up load for yesterday was an image I shot while watching TV last night. With that out of the way we stopped for brunch and came on home. Bob unloaded the car for me then started the lawn work. I put things away and got back to the computer.
One of my photo a day was an unusual subject...the photo is supposed to be of a boomerang. The twins have had some here at times and we have had one for the dogs but I don’t have any lying around right now, so Sue sketched one for me to photograph. It really looks like maybe one of the twins drew it. I am not pleased with the way I was able to fulfil this assignment.
The word for today is because. We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. George Bernard Shaw. He who is unable to live in society, or who has no need because he is sufficient for himself, must be either a beast or a god. Aristotle. In doing what we ought we deserve no praise, because it is our duty. Saint Augustine. This City is what it is because our citizens are what they are. Plato. I can believe a miracle because I can raise my own arm. I can believe a miracle because I can remember. I can believe it because I can speak and be understood by you, Ralph Waldo Emerson. The reason why the world lacks unity, and lies broken and in heaps, is, because man is disunited with himself. Ralph Waldo Emerson. How does the Meadow flower its bloom unfold? Because the lovely little flower is free down to its root, and in that freedom bold. William Wordsworth. I can't go back to yesterday - because I was a different person then. Lewis Carroll. Selfishness must always be forgiven you know, because there is no hope of a cure. Jane Austen. They can because they think they can. Virgil. If you end up falling in love with someone, it's because of them. If you end up hating someone, it's because of you, Vincent Van Gogh.
We had a pop up challenge from Sudbury for this image. We were to make a collage of shots we find among our favorites. I chose my shots and then put a vignette on each of them. This article is a story about one of the several large modern art pieces in Columbus. I am a novice artist so I don’t understand some pieces of art that I encounter. I enjoy seeing a shape, textures, colors and so on but not always see the “meaning or message”. This one is one of those for me. But apparently it did win some awards in the art community. The one in question in this article is 7,000 Pounds of Steel titled “The Makers Monument”. It located in the Short North at W. Hubbard and North High Street and is meant to memorialize the city’s history of industry and creation. It is sections of steel at “almost impossible angles”. It cost around a half-million dollar. There are hundreds of cutouts to depict objects made in or near Columbus throughout history, from tribes lived here until now. An algorithm was used to generate the placement of the cutouts. I haven’t seen the sculpture myself but the article related that the cutouts represent a tooth, a casket, the outline of Ohio, an axe, ice cream cone, saws and so on. There are seventy-five objects in 5,000 cutouts. This sculpture grabs attention from a distance as well as close up.
I am making chili for dinner tonight....I think of chili as a winter dish but it tastes good most any time.
