August 15, 2024 a thought for today, It is too late to call back yesterday. English Proverb
Yesterday’s fist upload was “photographer’s choice”. I am using clouds a lot these days. Sue mentioned the other day that she thinks the formation of the clouds seemed to be different this summer than past years. I think I agree, I have been noticing them more than ever before.
My third upload for yesterday was “homemade”. This is a small sample of what I have “home made” in my aging life time. This is one of my photos printed, mounted and framed, along with one of the crochet hats I am currently making, and the other is a sample of my paper quilling.
Life today. Wow what a day. It was one of those days that I would get started on one thing then something would come up to change direction. That’s ok when everything gets accomplished which seems to be the out come for today.
When I got to church and got the printing started, I called to straighten out a situation with my eye doctor appointment tomorrow. I have the lingering cough and one of the questions to sign in for the appointment is do you have a cough....I had answered no on the text form. I was in a hurry. So I called to see if I should reschedule (which I thought would be the case) or just wear a mask. The young person on the other end of the line said a mask would be ok. We’ll see when I get there tomorrow.
The first upload for today is “dancing”. I don’t have any photos of actual dancing or any prospect of obtaining that challenge in the foreseeable future. So I am using the kids playing in the pool as they “dance” around in the water with their friends. As I was downloading my photos for today I realized I chose one of the photos that doesn’t fit the challenge so I had to find a replacement on a dime of time.
As the printing was going on I was downloading the series of the last few recorded church services I got a message that the external hard drive that we save them to is full. I created a file on the PC hard drive to save this set until we decide if we are going to clean the external drive or get a new one.
The next upload is “lunch”. This was one lunch I put together rather quickly. A lot of my lunches are fast food. But now and then I fix my own....BLT or grilled cheese or even peanut butter. Finally at home and back on the computer, I took a break and got the laundry started when I realized I had left the dish washer to finish loading and start to run so I got that done too. While I finished loading the dish washer I decided to make the meat loaf and clean up after instead of waiting until closer to dinner time to do it.
Phew.....I hope that is the last of the twists in the direction I am going with the rest of the day.
Another upload for today is “photographer’s choice”. This one is another of the gardens in the metro park down the street. The word for today is less. What do we live for, if not to make life less difficult for each other? George Eliot. I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars. Walt Whitman, Thinking is more interesting than knowing, but less interesting than looking. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The mind that is wise mourns less for what age takes away; than what it leaves behind. William Wordsworth. All the beautiful sentiments in the world weigh less than a single lovely action. James Russell Lowell. The more one judges, the less one loves. Honore de Balzac. There are people, who the more you do for them, the less they will do for themselves. Jane Austen. What we learn only through the ears makes less impression upon our minds than what is presented to the trustworthy eye. Horace. Wealth after all is a relative thing since he that has little and wants less is richer than he that has much and wants more. Charles Caleb Colton. The more completely we focus our attention on our Creator and Lord, the less chance there is of our being distracted by creatures. Saint Ignatius True wisdom is less presuming than folly. The wise man doubteth often, and changeth his mind; the fool is obstinate, and doubteth not; he knoweth all things but his own ignorance. Akhenaton.
This is another of the days for a fourth upload. This challenge is “bottles”. I opened one of the pantry doors for this quick shot. The article is some more history about Ohio. An interesting bit about a place few can see right now. Maybe there will be another chance to see this historic spot again one day. The title is “What Happened to Ohio’s Famed Bottomless Blue Hole?” This “natural wonder” is located in the “quaint town” of Castalia Ohio, not far from Cedar Point. According to the article it was a popular place to visit in the 20th century. The water in the “hole” is a “strikingly blue” color with “mysterious allure”. It has been closed for “nearly three decades”. Apparent there is a history and legends that are attached to the area. It is a “cenote” (natural pit of sinkhole) that is filled with water. The water is so clear that it appears to be bottomless although it has been measured at 45 feet deep. The temperature of the water stays at 48 degrees all year. It is fed from an underground stream that “discharges an astonishing 7 million gallons of water daily”. It was more or less “discovered”, at least by the public, in the 1920s. The article related that there were 165,000 visitors a year. Until it closed around 1990. It is now privately owned and closed to the public. There is a State Fish Hatchery very close to the Blue Hole that is fed by the same stream with the brilliant blue water and is open to the public. Though not as “mysterious” as the Blue Hole “it remains a fascinating destination for nature lovers and history buffs alike.”
I am making meatloaf for dinner.
