March 15, 2025 a thought for today, Many people are smart but few are wise. Native American Shoshone Proverb

One of the uploads for yesterday was “water refection”. This took a quick trip to the park yesterday morning. There were some other of this guy’s friends around.

The second upload was “frozen”. Right now we don’t have anything “frozen” except in the freezer so I use the archives for this one.

The last image for yesterday was “my fave treat”. I have lots of “fave” treats and this is one of them. Chocolate ice cream with a dollop of whipped cream.

Life today. I have managed to keep myself busy all day long with little or no breaks. First of course, is my virtual checks of new headlines, emails, messages, and facebook. Then I got started on the research for this letter. That usually means the looking up of a chosen word for the day. I almost always chose uses of the word from times prior to the 21st century. I find what honorable people from earlier times used those words with meaning. Then a search for a thought for the day. After that I take a look at what photos I am going to need for the day which starts my thinking as things come to mind what I will be able to use for the challenge.

The first upload for today is “text”. I am not happy with the out come on this image. I played around with it for over an hour and decided to move on to other things.

Sweet Pea and I made it to Kroger for grocery pick up between bursts of rain. Last night the sounds and flashes of light were strong enough to make Sweet Pea nervous.

Once home, afer a couple of stops for photos, I got back to the computer. Then I put a full chicken in a pot to stew for Sweet Peas new diet. Then I browned some beef for her diet too. Next it was put together the ingredients for the Salisbury steak. I multi tasked with those chores as I put groceries away.

The next upload today is “texture”. This stone wall is a couple of blocks from my home. I passed it as I was on my way home and realized it would be a good shot. So I turned around to go back and get the shot.

For a short break to something different I started clearing a shelf in the “pantry” cupboard to try to give Sue a little more room for some of her canned goods. That will be an on going task for a while.

The rain held off for a while this afternoon leaving an overcast sky. Apparently we will be getting some heavy storms later tonight.

Now I’m going to stop and see if my recipe for the Salisbury steak is a keeper.

The third image for today is one of the “my choice”. I have used another of my series of “partial” images.

The word for today is teacher. I am indebted to my father for living, but to my teacher for living well. Alexander the Great.  A teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering on cold iron. Horace Mann.  To this end the greatest asset of a school is the personality of the teacher. John Strachan. What we become depends on what we read after all of the professors have finished with us. The greatest university of all is a collection of books. Thomas Carlyle.  The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching. Aristotle.  History is Philosophy teaching by example. Thucydides. It is by teaching that we teach ourselves, by relating that we observe, by affirming that we examine, by showing that we look, by writing that we think, by pumping that we draw water into the well. Henri Frederic Amiel.  Experience is the teacher of all things. Julius Caesar.  Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher. William Wordsworth.  What is the benefit of fasting in our body while filling our souls with innumerable evils? He who does not play at dice, but spends his leisure otherwise, what nonsense does he not utter? What absurdities does he not listen to? Leisure without the fear of God is, for those who do not know how to use time, the teacher of wickedness. Saint Basil. Those that know, do. Those that understand, teach. Aristotle.  Correction does much, but encouragement does more. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.  Genius without education is like silver in the mine. Benjamin Franklin.  The one exclusive sign of thorough knowledge is the power of teaching.  Aristotle.

The last photo upload today is one of those I have of a fourth image of the day. This one is “full of color/vivid color”. This bright red on the McDonald sign is certainly vivid and so is the yellow touch.

Article: Here’s more about AI with yet another view of it’s “power”. This title is “When humans use AI to earn patents, who is doing the inventing?”. It begins with what we all know by now, “sent shock waves across industries, from the technical to the creative”. It also asks the question many ask will “they will take away jobs in technology, journalism and design, among many other fields”. In this particular article “what does it mean to be an inventor?”. In one study it was noted that “82% of the surveyed researchers felt less satisfied with their jobs since implementing AI in their workflows”. Some of those researched said that “my education is now worthless.”  With that information it was pointed out “if a scientist uses AI in order to build something new, does the output still qualify as an invention?”. The article then went on to mention it there a “growing power of AI shifting the legal landscape”. In 2020 it was determined that by a court ruling “that under current U.S. law, only humans can be listed as inventors, but they left open the question of whether inventions developed by scientists with the help of AI qualify for patent protection”. Later in the article it was pointed out that the “U.S. The Constitution explicitly protects the “exclusive rights” of authors and inventors “to their respective writings and discoveries,” reflecting the framers’ strong conviction that the state should protect and encourage original ideas”. As I am writing this letter I am wondering if that part of the Constitution could/will be changed. In 2022 there was a court hearing that tested the idea, at that time “the court concluded that under U.S. law, inventors must be human beings”. In 2024 another hearing “explained that the policy did not preclude inventors from using AI tools to assist in the research and development of inventions”. Sounds to me like ‘tip toeing toward a change”?  The article mentions that “U.S. innovation policy is at a crossroads”.

It is Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes for dinner.
