April 1, 2021 a thought for today, The stars are the eyes of heaven. Hawaiian Proverb

The printing went uninterrupted and quickly. I was done with four individual documents in about an hour. Since things went so quickly with that job I called Sue before I left the church to see if she wanted to go to take care of a couple of errands with me. I stopped at one shop for her to pick up a couple of things and then we headed to JoAnn Fabrics for a few more things. On our way home I went by McDonalds for some brunch but the drive through line was so long that I changed direction and headed to Wendy’s.

Yesterday the photo theme was “I am proud of”. I am proud of a lot in my life. Gifts I have been given that were beyond my plan and choice bring a sense of pride in that I was deemed respected and honored enough for that precious gift. And things that we have earned by hard work and diligence and selective tastes meet that statement. I thought on it and decided the best way for me to image the pride is family. I have hundreds of family photos that I wanted to use but I needed one that showed more that one or two persons.

When we got home from our errands this morning. I “changed hats” and got into house keeping mode to start the laundry. Then took time to check email and facebook for any messages that needed answered.

While we were out earlier in the day, I looked for and found some images to fit the photo for today.

One of my great grand children had a medical test yesterday that I was concerned about and waited all day to hear the results. When we got the word, it was good, the test was normal. It’s so good to have news that things are normal and healthy. I was pretty sure they would be but it was good to know for sure.

My granddaughter stopped by last night for a quick visit. I had ordered little Easter remembrance for each of my great grand children and one of them didn’t get to the great grand child that it was meant for, it went along with one of the others. So Natalie said she would drop the errant gift off at my house. I will take it to William on Easter. She also brought a couple of pretty Easter baskets. It was good to see her if even for just a few minutes.

The word for today is substance. Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow. Aesop.  The very substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream. William Shakespeare.  God is the same God, always and everywhere. He is omnipresent not virtually only, but also substantially, for virtue cannot subsist without substance. Isaac Newton. No one who is in this world will deny that evils exist. What, then, do we say? That evil is not a living and animated substance, but a condition of the soul which is opposed to virtue and which springs up In the slothful because of their falling away from good. Saint Basil. The only substance properly so called is the soul. Henri Frederic Amiel.   Lies are sufficient to breed opinion, and opinion brings on substance. Francis Bacon.  God should not be called an individual substance, since the principal of individuation is matter. Thomas Aquinas.  Are not rays of light very small bodies emitted from shining substances? Isaac Newton.  Evil has no substance of its own, but is only the defect, excess, perversion, or corruption of that which has substance, John Henry Newman.   Time ripens the substance of a life as the seasons mellow and perfect its fruits. The best apples fall latest and keep longest, Amos Bronson Alcott. The intellectual quest, though fine as pearl or coral, is not the spiritual search. That spiritual search is on another level. Spiritual wine is a different substance, Rumi. To learn new habits is everything, for it is to reach the substance of life. Life is but a tissue of habits, Henri Frederic Amiel.

Today’s photo a day challenge was “the sky”. As I waited in the car when my sister was on an errand I watched the birds flying over head and the clouds as they slowly crept along the path of their journey. I saw several collections of clouds and birds and shot a few. I liked this one because of the one ray of light extending faintly from the cloud to the base of the building.

This article is about some more improvement in Columbus. This title caught my attention, “Columbus Partnership Buys Vacant Downtown Building”. I think way back in my writings I mentioned that I like to see old buildings resurrected into something polished and shined returning it to something beautiful. I like to see them brought back to their former self but with anything new and subtle that brings their usefulness into this generation without taking away from its historical value. I didn’t even contemplate downtown building being vacant. This one is a seven-story structure located at 145 S. Front Street. The group who bought it is planning on a community partnership with the state to “reactivate this important block of the downtown”. The property is close to the Scioto River and the Supreme Court building. I can’t quite view the statement that it can be an “inclusion of affordable or workforce housing within the new development”. I can’t determine if that means at least part of it being living quarters for folks. Whatever it means I hope they plan to keep its history somehow noticeable. One thing that adds to that way of thinking is the statement “concern that someone else would buy it and just sit on it waiting for the market to improve not bringing any more activity or life into the neighborhood”.  Some of the projects that have been redeveloped in historic buildings in the area are the Municipal Light Plant, the Stoddart Block, and other projects like the Trolley District. They say the planning won’t be complete until the end of the year. The last statement in the article was “I don’t believe office space is going away, but it’s going to look different in the future, and this building is an opportunity for us to demonstrate that.”

Yesterday was the last day of March so I put together the composite of daily photos for the month.

I am making Parmesan chicken for dinner.
