May 3, 2021 a thought for the day, Every goodbye is the birth of a memory. Traditional Proverb
It has been one of those days that added activity on a spur of the moment kind of way. Normally I’m not the kind of person to accepts the “spur of the moment” way of getting things done. I have a knack for “pigeonholing” things to an agenda or to do list. There was a package from some very important people in my life that I needed to pick up at the post office but I couldn’t get it until after ten o’clock. Sue likes to take care of some banking business on the third of the month. So we decided that we would take care of these two errands at one outing. Then, here comes the “spur of the moment” thing, we decided we both had one item each we wanted to pick up at Walmart so we added that to the list.
As we were going from one errand stop to another we took routes that led us past places that held many and varied memories from our growing up years. It turned out to be kind of some unplanned trips (maybe more “spur of the moment”) down memory lanes. It was nice.
Along the way I was on the alert for my daily photo captures.
Before we left I was able to get a start on some of my computer lists for today. Not as many as I had hoped to get done but at least at start.
Yesterdays photo challenge was “this inspires me”, which this image does I more ways than one.Oh, the item I picked up at the post office was a hand made gift from two of my great grand children. It is a canvas bag decorated with their hand prints and a scripture from the Bible. Something I will use and treasure.
The word today is truth. Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. Henry David Thoreau. Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth. Buddha. Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. Thomas Jefferson. No legacy is so rich as honesty. William Shakespeare. A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God's truth is attacked and yet would remain silent. John Calvin. Every truth has two sides; it is as well to look at both, before we commit ourselves to either. Aesop. Peace if possible, truth at all costs. Martin Luther. Half a truth is often a great lie. Benjamin Franklin. Light is the symbol of truth. James Russell Lowell. Truth is not only violated by falsehood; it may be equally outraged by silence. Henri Frederic Amiel. There are only two people who can tell you the truth about yourself - an enemy who has lost his temper and a friend who loves you dearly. Antisthenes. Truth is certainly a branch of morality and a very important one to society. Thomas Jefferson. To the living we owe respect, but to the dead we owe only the truth. Voltaire. What is truth? said jesting Pilate; and would not stay for an answer. Francis Bacon. A liar will not be believed, even when he speaks the truth. Aesop. We know the truth, not only by the reason, but also by the heart. Blaise Pascal. Wisdom is found only in truth. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
The challenge for today is “ in the distance”. This type of image has another description, I think. I think it can also be a leading line.In my life time there have been many “inventions” and new ways of doing daily chores and activities. This article seems to be mentioning more “new” ways. These ways seem to be healthier for our atmosphere leading to better quality to life. The article is mentioning a plan in Upper Arlington to use wind energy in their over all plan to meet zero pollution and emissions by 2030. The city managers have signed a contract for a renewal energy certificate which will allow them to use supports to operate and develop facilities that generate clean renewable energy. This will mean cost savings and will offer the opportunity for environmentally friendly “initiatives” as available. The goal is to achieve the zero waste and zero pollution and zero emission plan by the 2030 date. One of the examples of this their interest in an effort toward wind energy. The city now has two electric vehicle and uses an EV charging station. It also offers five GoGo bicycle sharing stations to reduce vehicle traffic and those emissions. They have a 45.2% recycling rate. They allow solar-panel installations in the fronts of structures. Traffic signals and walk signals and street lights use liquid-emitting diode lighting that is energy efficient. Another example of helping to keep things cleaner is their food waste diversion (community composting) study with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio). They also encourage people to walk, bike, use transit to aid in the clean air thinking.
I think it is going to be Coney dogs for dinner.

The “discard” for today is this forgotten unfinished liquid refreshment. Maybe a perfect place for it. The overall image offers diagonal lines, shadows, and textures.
