October 3, 2022 a thought for today, There will come a time when the seed will sprout. Russian Proverb
I received some photos from my daughter-in-law of my great grand children having a wonderful time with their grandparents. Half of them are just now getting serious one-on-one time to bond with their grandparents. It does my heart good. Now, I hope and pray, it will be smooth sailing for all of their, my four great grandchildren and their grandma and grandpa, to continue to bond and celebrate each others lives. For their early and formative years there was a little “hick up” in the normal progress of that path. I think it’s fixed now, mostly.
The first photo upload for yesterday was “black” (we are doing a different color each day). This image is of the front end of a truck, a bright yellow truck. I managed to separate the image I shot to include only the black portion of the truck.
Sue and I had a few short errands day. We each had stops at each other’s banks, a stop at Kroger for forgotten items and one last stop for Sue. In one of the stops I had a surprise meeting. One of the ladies from church, who is making a major change in her life, was at the bank and had one of the tellers catch me before I left and missed her. It was a short but nice visit.
My second up load for yesterday was pulled from my trusty archives. This was taken in a flower shop of one of the many prepared arrangement to be sent to someone special.I found that one of the house plants I brought in may be having a problem so I took it back out side and used a homemade spray (cooking oil, mint leaf, garlic, onion, hot pepper sauce, dawn and water) to try to protect it. I have used this concoction for a few years, it seems to have worked well. I sprayed the plant yesterday but found a couple of spots I missed so sprayed it again today. I also noticed that one of the Christmas plants had a tiny little bud. It seemed to remind me that it needs twelve hours of complete darkness for a month to set the blooms so I started taking it out from under the plant lights at five o’clock to put in a closet. I take it out and back to the plant lights at about seven o’clock the next morning.
I got some basic work done on the bulletin before Sue and I left earlier this morning.
The upload for today is “green”. I tried to tone down the bright blue sky to put more emphasis on the green leaves of several different trees. The word for today is light. We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. Plato. Shadow owes its birth to light. John Gay. Light tomorrow with today! Elizabeth Barrett Browning. In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don't. Blaise Pascal. Give light, and the darkness will disappear of itself. Desiderius Erasmus. Life is the fire that burns and the sun that gives light. Life is the wind and the rain and the thunder in the sky. Life is matter and is earth, what is and what is not, and what beyond is in Eternity. Lucius Annaeus Seneca. A light wind swept over the corn, and all nature laughed in the sunshine. Anne Bronte. Great and glorious God, and Thou Lord Jesus, I pray you shed abroad your light in the darkness of my mind. Be found of me, Lord, so that in all things I may act only in accordance with Thy holy will. Francis of Assisi. To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist. Robert Schumann. The spiritual virtue of a sacrament is like light; although it passes among the impure, it is not polluted. Saint Augustine. The stars, that nature hung in heaven, and filled their lamps with everlasting oil, give due light to the misled and lonely traveller. John Milton. Fond memory brings the light of other days around me. Thomas Moore. Work while you have the light. You are responsible for the talent that has been entrusted to you. Henri Frederic Amiel.
Another photo from the archives is of this friendly fellow. It was taken on a trip to the zoo a couple of years ago.I don’t like roundabouts. That being said, I am willing to visit the idea that they may make things safer. I feel it makes for confusion. I am a product of a past and simpler era. The article says there is increasing support for their use. These circles in the road “have spiraled in the past two decades”. Franklin and Delaware counties “are now home to more than 100 traffic circles-ten times higher than 2004”. According to the article they are a low-tech way to safety. Apparently Delaware County considers a roundabout when an intersection needs repair. The definition of a roundabout “is a circle at the intersection to two or more roads with no traffic signals or stop signs. Drivers entering the circle must yield to cars on the inside”. The article went on to state that a single land roundabout has only eight conflict points conspired to thirty-two at a red light intersection. The circle causes traffic to slow down. They reportedly shorten commutes since people don’t have to stop as often and save on gas money. They say that roundabouts are not necessary for most intersections. Traffic lights are better for
heavily traveled roads.
I think we will be having spaghetti for dinner.
