January 9, 2023 a thought for the day, He who teaches a boy teaches three a youth, a young man, and an old man. Traditional Proverb
One of my uploads for January 9 was “PM”. I like to notice and shoot photo of beautiful sunrises and sunset so I have a collection of such shots. This is one of them as the sun was beginning to leave for the day.Yesterdays church service was small in attendance but nice. This was the week we had a donut fellowship following the service. That brings us all back together for a while. We have a new voice in our choir group too. He is a music major at Otterbine University. It makes our music much richer.
The beginning of a new week started off about the same as any other. It is mostly on the cold side of the thermometer. It’s just the beginning of January and I am day dreaming of spring already.
The next photo upload for yesterday was “opulent”. I am a pretty low profile person so I don’t have toomany opulent subjects to consider for a photo shoot. I considered the formation of the clouds in this image as “opulent”.
I began as usual with the virtual visits then some concentrated time of setting up the bulletin for this week. I will have the information to finish it tomorrow.
I needed to get some work done in the kitchen so I got most of that out of the way before noon.
My fist upload for today is “I enjoy....”. Some of the photos we are assigned to find are cause for thought as this one is. I enjoy a lot of things. One of the things I enjoy most is food ..... and one of those is sweets. This half eaten (by guess who) chocolate covered cherry was my choice for this shot. The word for today is always. Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right. Abraham Lincoln. True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart. Honore de Balzac. Always desire to learn something useful, Sophocles. An honest man is always a child. Socrates. Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action. Benjamin Disraeli. God always strives together with those who strive. Aeschylus. Say not always what you know, but always know what you say. Claudius. The garden of love is green without limit and yields many fruits other than sorrow or joy. Love is beyond either condition: without spring, without autumn, it is always fresh. Rumi. Plunge boldly into the thick of life, and seize it where you will, it is always interesting. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Truth uttered before its time is always dangerous. Mencius. Chance is always powerful. Let your hook always be cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be fish. Ovid. I have always been regretting that I was not as wise as the day I was born. Henry David Thoreau.
My second shot for today was “piles of things”. This one fits the season and the title. These piles of snow drifts in the plowed parking lot at the shopping center.Columbus is rich in history. Here is another historic building in our city. With some stories about the past. The one in this article is the old post office and courthouse that was built in 1884 through 1887. I was surprised to read that it was once the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio until 1934. I worked at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio for fifteen years but not in that building. There was some rehabilitation on the building which “tripled in size from 1907 to 1912". It was revamped again in 1986 and became law offices. The building is three and a half stories and designed in the “Romanesque Revival style”. After some work on the building there is old and new High Victorian Gothic styles in the design. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. In 1934 the United States District Court moved from that building to where it is now on Marconi Boulevard.
I am making johnny marzetti for dinner tonight, I think a lot of people call it goulash but it’s good whatever the name.
Joy
