February 2, 2023 a thought for today, There are a thousand roads to every wrong. Polish Proverb
Choir practice last night was another of the things that give me a feel of companionship with peers I like being with not to mention the effects I feel from the words to the hymns we are practicing.
One of the first uploads for the new month, February 1, was “I’m grateful for this”. I don’t know that I made a good choice for this one. I am trying to demonstrate that I am grateful for the light of the sun as it shows the veins in the flower and the shadows as the gifts of the sun’s rays and what it casts before us.The printing is done again.....like the mail man “neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”. I also managed to get the memory card related to the streaming process downloaded and cleared. The building was quiet and filled with the Spirit as I feel each time I am there alone. Patti came in when I was almost done. We had time for a little chat before we each had to move onto our chosen adventures for the day.
I went on a short photo search after I left the church. I’m sure if I felt more comfortable driving around my excursions would cover a more extended route leading to a larger collection of interesting subjects but alas I’m a chicken when it comes to driving outside my comfort zone especially in the winter.
The second upload for yesterday was “makes me smile”. She always does. But this one show a bit on one of her favorite toys, Angry Bird as she seems to be using him as her pillow. On the Thursday schedule is the weekly laundry so that was the next thing on the list to get started when I finally got home along with some research on new words that were introduced to me in my ebook and in other Google searches ....... I like to keep learning and pondering, I find it fun and illuminating.
I need to do a little tidying when I take another break. Sweet Pea likes to find an empty toilet paper roll to demolish when she gets the chance. She found such a treasure earlier this morning so I need to pick up the pieces. It’s almost like having a child in the house. On the one hand kind of cute on the other a bit of a nuisance (one wrapped in love at least).
Once dinner and dishes are out of the way there is another meeting at church tonight.
The first upload for today is “my favorite animal”. I am an animal lover so I enjoy, love and respect all of God’s creatures and animals. But for today and closest to me it is Sweet Pea.The word today is book. Making a book is a craft, like making a clock; it needs more than native wit to be an author. Jean de la Bruyere. Every man likes to be his own librarian... Thomas Frognall Dibdin. ...the strongest friends of the soul – BOOKS... Emily Dickinson. ...books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own. William Hazlitt. How many a man has dated a new era in his life from the reading of a book. Henry David Thoreau. Encourage and pursue an inclination to reading early in life; it is laying up a treasure for the latter part of it... Countess Dowager of Carlisle. Books are the windows through which the soul looks out. A house without books is like a room without windows. Henry Ward Beecher. There is no book so bad that it is not profitable on some part. Pliny the Younger. A good book is the precious lifeblood of a master spirit. John Milton. Every burned book enlightens the world Ralph Waldo Emerson. A room without books is like a body without a soul. Marcus Tullius Cicero. Let your daughter have first of all the book of Psalms for holiness of heart, and be instructed in the Proverbs of Solomon for her godly life. St. Jerome.
My second upload for today is “food”. I have shown food in different forms of use over the years in my photos of the day. For this one I decided to be a bit different and create an image of an advertising sign at White Castle. I like the colors, the background effect that I created and the textures....all subjects matching the description of art as well as documenting the capture as journalistic. This article is more of a human interest story rather than another about our history. These types sometimes stimulate thinking and processing the effects of love. The article is actually about a woman trying to locate lost photos of a treasured pet. She had rescued the pet, a mixed basenji, then claimed, as many do, that the dog saved her in the long run. The dog, Bella, had been in an abusive situation when she was rescued. From then on it was unconditional love for the next eight years. The article said if you never owned a dog you may not understand. If you did own one but it was just a pet to be put aside when convent you won’t understand either. But if you owned one as it became a “full-fledged family member” you will completely understand and agree. Bella died, as her owner held her. She was ten years old and died from an “undetected tumor”. The problem and the reason for the article is that Bella’s human had her cell phone full of three years of photos and videos of the beloved Bella including ones just before her death. The cell phone is lost. An established relationship therapist noted that dogs “ provide 'non-complex, simple love, availability, and a presence we live for and ... what we want most from human relationships: connection, attunement, and presence.” There are no “ulterior motives”. Pets aren’t “distracted by words or nuances in human relationships”. The article quoted Mark Twain with 'If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you,....This is the principal difference between a dog and man.' The owner of Bella said she was getting ready to sell the phone but planed one last step, downloading Bella’s pictures when the phone was lost. She says she learned a lesson in this...download photo as you collect them to a safe storage area. She says she doesn’t care about the phone only the photos on it. Her memories of Bella can’t be stolen. She has all of the vets records neatly filed in a file cabinet; every month she held Bella in her arms as she was put on the scale to be weighed, she has saved Bella’s Halloween costumes and coats and sweaters, and a drawer full of colorful collars. The photos are “missing pieces of a life lived and shared”.' She says she knows she’ll eventually get over it, move on, and maybe one day try to “find another best friend.”
The air fryer will be working again today.....beer battered fist and fries for dinner.
Joy
resting and waiting
