February 4, 2023 a thought for today, Truth does not happen, it just is. Native American Hopi Proverb
I keep thinking I would like to join my son for breakfast or lunch....today he called just before we were going to pick up the curbside so Bob and I rushed to get ready to meet him. But he called as we were leaving and said the restaurant was crowded to overflowing so we cancelled. Maybe next time.
My first upload for February 3 was “clouds”. I have several awesome sky and cloud images. My “mood” led me to snap one today rather than take it from the archives so this is the one I was most able to shoot with a number of clouds in their journey across today heavens. The twins are here to visit again this Saturday. I have found that when they are here we have a hard time listening to any of the HGTV shows on TV. They are listening to .....?? whatever...on their cell phones or tablets without their ear phones. I am getting a refresher course on the lives of pre-teens. And, so onward, boy, can they eat..... I love it all....it brings youth and light and smiles into the house again, ups and downs and all.
When we got the groceries home and put away, I realized I need to spend some time cleaning out the chest freezer. I’m sure there are things in the bottom that I have forgotten about over the last couple of weeks or so.
My second up load for yesterday was “books”. I believe these books have appeared in some of my other photos. The number of books I have in my “library” are these old (some VERY old) and well used ones.We are having another one of those “ups” in the Ohio seasons roller coaster....yesterday and last night the temps were well below freezing....today the temperature is going to be 39 and the rest of the week in the 40s. Don’t they say the only thing in life that is constant is change? Ohio weather is true to that ancient claim (Heraclitus (500 BCE), a Greek philosopher, is quoted as saying "change is the only constant in life).
My first upload for today is titled “in a store”. I don’t do a lot of shopping so I am not in a “store” very often. Due to the number and variety of stores being limited in my outings, the grocery store is the first one that comes to mind. It’s not that I don’t shop for the necessities of life it’s just that most of my shopping is online. The word today is bound. Our country is that spot to which our heart is bound. Voltaire. All June I bound the rose in sheaves, Now, rose by rose, I strip the leaves. Robert Browning. Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. Chief Seattle. By the will art thou lost, by the will art thou found, by the will art thou free, captive, and bound. Angelus Silesius. I shall never be a heretic; I may err in dispute, but I do not wish to decide anything finally; on the other hand, I am not bound by the opinions of men. Martin Luther. Our country is that spot to which our heart is bound. Voltaire. Of what use were wings to a man fast bound in chains of iron? Adelbert von Chamisso. It is not from your own goods that you give to the beggar; it is a portion of his own that you are restoring to him. The Earth belongs to all. So you are paying back a debt and think you are making a gift to which you are not bound. Saint Ambrose. Know that the mirror of the heart is boundless. . . Here, opinions become silent, otherwise they will lead you into errors. . . for the heart is sacred - even more the heart is sacredness itself, Rumi. And so, with a boundless heart should one cherish all living beings. Gautama Buddha. Everyone is bound to bear patiently the results of his own example. Phaedrus.
The second “assignment” for today is “adventure”. Exciting adventures are limited in my age bracket so I decided to show one of the adventures my best furry friend enjoys.....a ride in the car. Doesn’t she look excited?“For everything there is a season...a time to break down and a time to build”. The article is about another shopping mall that has had “it’s time in the sun”. This one is the closest mall to my house. We shopped at it for years. Now the time has come to demolish it....wipe it away. I have lived more years than it did. The Waldens book store was my favorite shop there. But Lazarus and Sears were also visited often not to mention the stops at Staples as I got older and more involved in technology, computers and printers, etc. Our Governor has announced that the state would “demolish 599 blighted and vacant structures through out Ohio”...one of those 599 is Westland Mall. They will be replaced with “transformative ideas for these properties”. As the article went on there were lists of memories born in that mall. For one family the memories were of mom taking the kids to the restaurant at Lazarus, then through the store where the kids would hide between the racks as mom looked at the clothing on the racks. During holidays there was a visit for pictures with Santa or the Easter bunny. There was a time for ear piercing. Some times mom would drop the kids off for fun and exploring for a few hours...in these excursions there were soft pretzels sticks to dip in cheese sauce, chocolate chip or M&M cookies. One of the trips mentioned in the article was shopping with dad as opposed to mom because dad hardly every shopped. They together shopped for a gift for mom. Those memories are not and will not meet a “time to break down”. The structures will be coming down in the spring.
I saved spaghetti sauce Monday so we will have it for tonight for dinner (I have tried the pasta I just learned about through one of my HGTV cook shows.... Bucatini, I ordered it and we had it last week. It does what they say....the sauce can be caught on the inside of the noodle as well as the outside).
