June 6, 2023 a thought for today, Gold does not rust on the ground, and rocks don't get soaked in the rain. Traditional Proverb

One of the uploads for yesterday was “my choice”. This is a shot of my holly hock plant on the back fence. That one was destroyed when my sister was spraying a weed killer then for sure when the chain link fence was replaced with the privacy fence. This image was a captured moment in time before its demise.

There are about two weeks in the month that every day of the week is not marked on the calendar with “outside” daytime activities and/or obligations. This is one of them, so I am going to make the best of it. Every day is occupied, after the daily virtual visits, with either my daily letter or my blog (and its research) as well as my daily photo “assignments” and multitasking to get the 2000 steps on my digital log. Of course for a “homemaker” there are must-do daily tasks to be completed, some take a longer time and more energy than others. Naturally, this is all, in my opinion, the best kind of life for a retired person as opposed to being a couch potato. Along with all of the above are the daily recreational reading (ebook) and my evening “brain games” on the ipad and various hobbies. Now you know part of the story of my life, oh, and there are my church activities which have been mentioned many times in earlier letters.

A second upload for yesterday was “childhood toys”. This is just a portion of the toy box we have for my sister’s twin granddaughters. They are growing fast and have begun to out grow most of what we have for them right now.

Today was, so far, taking Bob on an errand and waiting for a visiting nurse to come by. Then some time in the kitchen to make meat loaf and corn bread casserole. I worked on a more than cursory clearing the sink and frig yesterday.

I had a third photo of the day upload for yesterday. This one was titled “something we don’t usually use as a photo theme”. I happened to shoot this one of a closed loading dock

The word today is progress.  Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow, Plato.  Progress is the activity of today and the assurance of tomorrow, Ralph Waldo Emerson.  I walk slowly, but I never walk backward, Abraham Lincoln.  We should so live and labor in our time that what came to us as seed may go to the next generation as blossom, and that which came to us as blossom may go to them as fruit. That is what we mean by progress, Henry Ward Beecher.  When any real progress is made, we unlearn and learn anew what we thought we knew before, Henry David Thoreau.  The walking of Man is falling forwards, Ralph Waldo Emerson.  When a blind man carries a lame man both go forward, Swedish Proverbs. He that is good, will infallibly become better, and he that is bad, will as certainly become worse; for vice, virtue and time are three things that never stand still, Charles Caleb Colton.  We have not wings we cannot soar; but, we have feet to scale and climb, by slow degrees, by more and more, the cloudy summits of our time, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.   True progress quietly and persistently moves along without notice, St. Francis of Assisi.  It is not by muscle, speed, or physical dexterity that great things are achieved, but by reflection, force of character, and judgment, Marcus Tullius Cicero. To progress is always to begin always to begin again,  Martin Luther.  The world is to be carried forward by truth, which at first offends, which wins its way by degrees, which the many hate and would rejoice to crush, William Ellery Channing.

A first upload for today is “cloud formations”. Today, here in Columbus, there were few if any visible clouds. So I chose one from my archives.

This sounds like something I could do but only if I could use my Rollator to walk the course and several rest stops. This is a story about something new coming to Ohio. It is called “Park Golf” or by some “mini golf on steroids” . Some have likened it to a cross between golf and crockett. It is “the fun and accessibility of mini golf with the sweeping, 18-hole courses of traditional golf”. The newest course is in Logan, Ohio. There are only a few in the entire country. It was invented in japan in 1983. It is played with a single club as opposed to a driver and a putter. The ball used in this game is also made of a resin and “significantly” larger than the traditional golf ball. The article related that “According to the IPGA website, at the time this story was published, there is only one certified park golf course in the country, which is located in New York”.

The second upload for today is another “my choice” and another from the archives. It was taken on one of my alley way excursions.

Meatloaf and mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy for dinner tonight.
