June 8, 2023 a thought for today, God's most wondrous deeds one moment sunshine another moment shade. Traditional Proverb
One of the uploads for yesterday was called “doorway or entrance”. While I was out yesterday I to pickup some meds earlier I looked for a doorway that was a little different than the “norm”. This was my find for today. And here it is Thursday....printing day again. It’s done. As I was leaving there was a food pantry delivery so some of my friends were coming in. This morning I didn’t have time to visit as I would like to have.
After dropping off the mail, bulletins, I stopped at White Castle for brunch for Bob and me. Then I went by the part to get a photo of the day, “reflection in water”, at the pond.
After a few more things on my computer, finishing a hand out for the upcoming spring sale we will be having at church. Then I started the weekly laundry. The past couple of weeks it has been much lighter since I don’t have Bob’s work clothes. So that is less time to spend on it and it is far easier to carry up the basement stairs. There are always pros and cons to most events/activities in our lives.
The second photo for yesterday was “my choice”. Somehow this one pulls my eye every time I pull it up on the computer so I decided to share it.
Bob has one of his many medical appointments today. We will be finding out a little more about what is coming next. We get the information in bits and pieces and from eight different sources with each part being slightly different than the other. It is hard to describe to others how things are going and how long each step will take. But “the best way out (or finish) is always through” by Robert Frost.
The first photo of the day for today was assigned as “reflections in water”. Once again, on my way home for an errand I went by the park in search of the photo of the day and here it is.The word for today is protect. Heaven often protects valuable souls charged with great secrets, great ideas, by long shutting them up with their own thoughts, Ralph Waldo Emerson. The best protection for the people is not necessarily to believe everything people tell them, Demosthenes. The best lightning rod for your protection is your own spine, Ralph Waldo Emerson. We know that God is everywhere; but certainly we feel His presence most when His works are on the grandest scale spread before us, Charlotte Brontë. They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety, Benjamin Franklin. The protection of a man's person is more sacred than the protection of his property, Thomas Paine. The purely defensive is doomed to defeat, Napoleon Bonaparte. No generous mind delights to oppress the weak, but rather to cherish and protect, Anne Bronte. May the perfect grace and eternal love of Christ our Lord be our never-failing protection and help. Saint Ignatius. Without effective protection of the citizens' right to property, it will be difficult to attract and accumulate valuable capital. Mencius. Innocence does not find near so much protection as guilt. Francois de La Rochefoucauld.
For the second photo of the day for today, “my choice”, I picked this one from the archives of a gorgeous plant I use to have. It got ground under in some lawn renewal projects.
This sounds like an interesting place to visit,( maybe for younger peoples). This is about a “resort” in Ohio with “unusual and intriguing” and especially unique parts. This adventurous place is in Mt. Vernon and is called Romantic Adventures Getaways. As the article relates “calling it an “inn” hardly does justice to the site”. This person who designed the site also “introduced’ other entertainment to Ohio such as escape rooms and ax throwing games. He likes to combine “mini-resorts” with active entertainment. Each suite offers “amenities” such as a spa along with the other activities. Reservations for the room are made for birthdays, anniversary and other special occasions. This “inn” is housed in a “beautiful” brick structure with a Victorian parlor was built in 1841. The article described that at each suite entrance there is a “simple puzzle” that has to be solved before the door is opened. Other surprises in this stay are “trap doors, down slides, carpet-lined tunnels and into hidden rooms containing rewards such as a private karaoke experience or a halotherapy salt “cave," all within the confines of a private suite”. There are massage equipment, jet tubs. One of the suites is called the King Louis XIV Suite and had was is called the Largest Bed in Ohio. Another suite is called the Genie Romance Suite with “Arabian Nights”-style “adventures. The Paradise Lost suites offers Indiana Jones type features. There are various puzzles and games in each suite with hints offered to solve them if necessary. Check it out at romanticadventuregetaways.com and more about the Mt. Vernon at area at visitknoxohio.org.
I am making baked hash with the beef stew from earlier in the week for dinner.
