February 11, 2024 a thought for today, Nature, time and patience are the three great physicians. Chinese Proverb

The first upload for yesterday was “starts with the letter N”. I thought nose would fit the requirement. She is a great model if I can catch her before she realizes I have a camera in my hand.

The next upload is “ICU using only one of the letters” as a letter for a subject. This on is for cookies. They are cookies baked by a neighbor and her granddaughter and given for Valentines Day.

The next upload for today is “winter sunrise”. This is one from the archives again since we don’t have any snow right now and that I am night always out of bed when the sun rises.

This is one of the days that I have a forth image to upload for the day. This one is “surprise”. I couldn’t think of any particular surprise for this one. So I picked one that always makes me question why, why the red flag in this instance.

Life today. The sermon was great today. It was the minister who did such a great job a few weeks ago. The only problem was I could barely hear her. She took a different position to be closer to the congregation rather then use the podium. Diana provided her with a microphone but I’m not sure it was working. After the service we had a fellowship hour and then a short Session (board) meeting to meet with and then vote on two new members.

After church I had to stop at Kroger to pick up my diabetes medication and a few things I forgot to order on my grocery curbside pick up.

My fist upload for today is “starts with the letter K”. A set of keys in my door fits this one.

We had a very special person from our church, actually a very special person to humanity pass away this past week. Many of us at the church are planning for his memorial service coming up early next month. He was one of the kindest, caring, generous and fun loving persons I’ve ever known. It’s a sadder world without him....at least mine is, as well as the feelings of many others I know. He was a minister. He went through theology school with Mr. (Fred) Rogers as a class mate.

I think most of you know about my Sundays, a slow day to relax and regenerate so there is not much on the agenda for today. I did a quick clean up on a page in the annual report I am working on.....that will be it for today. I brought home the memory card from the camera that does our streaming. The streaming wasn’t working today so I was going to down load taped service  manually to Facebook but when I started the download I found the service hadn’t taped.

The next upload for today is “my favourite road sign”. I like the shapes, sizes and positions of a number of road signs. This is one of the most familiar and the quickest to find. On this one I got two for one with the one way topper.

The word today is account. Happiness: a good bank account, a good cook, and a good digestion. Jean-Jacques Rousseau.  As we must account for every idle word, so must we account for every idle silence. Benjamin Franklin.  It is good for us to keep some account of our prayers, that we may not unsay them in our practice. Matthew Henry.  Do not measure your loss by itself; if you do, it will seem intolerable; but if you will take all human affairs into account you will find that some comfort is to be derived from them. Saint Basil.  A soul which gives itself to prayer, either much or little, should on no account be kept within narrow bounds. Saint Teresa of Avila.  There is a great deal of unmapped country within us which would have to be taken into account in an explanation of our gusts and storms. George Eliot.  Love is the only game that is not called on account of darkness. Thomas Carlyle. Chance happens to all, but to turn chance to account is the gift of few. Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton.  Genius is rarely able to give any account of its own processes. George Henry Lewes.  If we want to make a statement about a man's nature on the basis of his physiognomy, we must take everything into account; it is in his distress that a man is tested, for then his nature is revealed. Paracelsus.

The last upload for today is “fresh”. I have some mystery lilies pushing there buds up from the ground right now so I am using them for this ‘assignment’.

This article brings up a subject that sounds like an interesting thing to think about....how AI affects young people. The title is “AI can help − and hurt − student creativity”.  It was written by an associate professor. She mentions that her research has shown that the answer isn’t simple. She says that teaching students to be “creative thinkers” rather that rely on AI is what needs to be considered. As part of a study on this subject they asked college student to brainstorm “without technology” how many ways you can use a paper clip. A month later they asked the same students the same question but this time use “ChatGPT” ( a free-to-use AI system). They found the AI system can be good for brainstorming with some negativity. It was helpful to “have another brain” but also felt that it was an “easy way out” and didn’t really let them think on their own. The study proved that it shows a “thoughtful approach to using AI in classrooms and striking a balance that nurtures creativity while utilizing AI’s capabilities”. AI is becoming a “staple” for students. It can help with new languages and a study of history and science. The study showed that 100% found AI helpful for brainstorming. It also showed that only16% preferred to use it to brainstorm. The young people found it worked for “kick-starting brainstorming sessions”. One worry for the students was the AI causes “over reliance on technology” possibly harming the way they think and their natural abilities. The study showed that if the students practiced “creativity independently first will strengthen their belief in themselves and their abilities”. After that AI can be “useful in furthering their learning”. Through these studies it was mentioned that “defining problems and critically evaluating ideas still rely heavily on human input”. AI is promising at helping students come up with ideas. The article also mentioned that in this early form of AI the students used in this study is having a growing role in education but the “human element” needs to the at the “forefront”. Factors to take into consideration when using AI are “plagiarism and false or misleading information”. I learned that some schools in California and Oregon, have already set up guidelines for AI use in schools.

I think I will have soup and a Red Lobster biscuit for dinner.

I usually put an image in this area showing something in plain view that may not always be pleasing in looks or suggestion of disrespect or other negative but familiar occurrence in the pathes of life. I decided to share this one instead today for its artistic nature.
