April 3, 2024 a thought for today, You are ushered in according to your dress; shown out according to your brains. Jewish Proverb
My first photo upload for yesterday was “table”. I believe this table is in some of my other uploads. It is a vintage gate leg table that belonged to my aunt. It is at least eighty to ninety years old. It has leaves that hang flat when the one or all of the “gate” legs are moved inward.
Life today. Yesterday Sweet Pea had her fourth injection in a series of eight so we are half way through the treatment for the torn ACL. She is better but it looks like there may still be a little way to go. She and I both are accepting the fact that she will be at least slightly crippled. I hope to see some more improvement in her walk pattern. However, whatever it is she still has her happy moments, even times of excitement.
The storms last night didn’t affect our immediate area as was strongly as expected but there was quite a heavy spell of thunder and lightening. Sweet Pea was more nervous than I have seen her in a while.
The first upload for today is “my favorite time of day”. I have a lot of “favorite times a day” since I am enjoying God’s gift of life these days. It so happened that I caught sight of this rainbow leg coming out of the clouds and the golden light in the atmosphere. This was my favorite time of this day.Tami came by today to help me with making my bed. I started some bed linen laundry early so I would be ready when she got here. It was done with one load done in about ten minutes after she got here.
Sue had ordered a walker that came yesterday. After opening it she found it didn’t adjust to the level she needed so we needed to send it back. Tami helped us with that too. I had never done a return through Amazon, Tami had some experience with that. So we got two things out of the way today.
I got the bulletin, inserts and mail for church completed yesterday so today was on a slow side in computer chores.
I had a call just a few minutes ago with a question that was also a reminder to me that we have choir practice tonight.
This upload today is called “something purple”. This is, for me, another color to select from violet, indigo, wine, lavender, orchid and more. Here is one of the items of one of those colors in my house today. This is one of my “house costs”.
The word today, clear. To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. Buddha. Speak clearly, if you speak at all; carve every word before you let it fall. Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. I believe that we cannot live better than in seeking to become better, nor more agreeably than having a clear conscience. Socrates. The best tranquilizer is a clear conscience. Benjamin Franklin. Use the light that is in you to recover your natural clearness of sight. Laozi. Clearness ornaments profound thoughts. Luc de Clapiers. True thinkers are characterized by a blending of clearness and mystery. Victor Hugo. To me there is no picture so beautiful as smiling, bright-eyed, happy children; no music so sweet as their clear and ringing laughter. P. T. Barnum. By polluting clear water with slime you will never find good drinking water. Aeschylus. He that has light within his own clear breast May sit in the centre, and enjoy bright day: But he that hides a dark soul and foul thoughts Benighted walks under the mid-day sun; Himself his own dungeon. John Milton. All those who offer an opinion on any doubtful point should first clear their minds of every sentiment of dislike, friendship, anger or pity. Sallust. Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand. Thomas Carlyle. Do not follow the ideas of others, but learn to listen to the voice within yourself. Your body and mind will become clear and you will realize the unity of all things. Dogen.
The last photo a day upload for today is “monochrome”. This is a fresh cutting of yellow daffodils from the yard. I captured the image with the camera’s set to black and white then used a sepia filter on it.
Article. The story in this article sounded like a unique experience so I thought I would share it. Good restaurants have their individual ambiances to meet their patrons’ tastes in surrounding as well as good food. This one is located in a vintage railroad train car. We had one inside the Spaghetti Warehouse. I believe it is out of commission right now. This one is a steam engine, diner car and caboose set high on a hill overlooking Interstate 71. Another one in the area is mentioned in the article that follows this concept. There you could sit in a box car or a Caboose. This one is no longer a working eatery. There is one, possibly the only one in Ohio, in Bellville, Ohio called the Buckeye Express Diner. This one is on a hill side overlooking “lovely views into the "valley". Here you have a choice of a passenger coach car or a caboose. The caboose offers elevated seats making the view much better. The menu offeres “Burgers, Fish, Subs, Dogs, Rubens, Shrimp, Wraps, Wings and more. We ordered the Lake Erie Perch and considered the Brutus (note the OSU influence) Burger, Philly Beef, Zing Wings, Grilled Cheese, 2 Bacon Cheese Burgers and Fries”. There is also a Lake Erie Perch sandwich that takes like the are fresh from Lake Erie. There are burger that the author compared the burgers from Fuddruckers. There is an item on the menu called a Brutus Philly Beef burger with cheddar cheese on a sub bun. In the article there is a mention of besides the delicious foods and the themed “cool train concept” the traveling distance from Columbus to get there may be time consuming and “not economical” for a regular visit it is worth the visit especially if you would stop by while passing though the area. Some of the themed eateries in Columbus in the past were located in a “3 mile stretch of road nicknamed "Restaurant Row" along Dublin Granville Road (SR 161). One was the Wind Cellar (owned by one of the Kahiki owners), The Ground Round, Flakey Jakes, Bombay Bicycle Club, The French Market and Victoria’s Station to mention a few.
I think I will be having a simple dinner, peanut butter and soup.
