April 9, 2024 a thought for today, Courage is the mistress and queen of all virtues. Latin Proverb
An upload for yesterday was “golden”. Sometimes I get the timing just right for a not-everyday sky color. This was one of those. These don’t happen every day so they have to be taken and stored in the archives for just the right time, the right day.
The next upload was “something black”. I was looking for a photo for another purpose when I came across this one and decided to use it for todays ‘assignment’. I think when I took this one I was interested in the shapes and patterns but what really caught my eye was the touch of red.
Life today. This was another of the days Sweet Pea had a treatment (shot). She has two more to go. I don’t see a big difference in her ability to control the leg. She is able to use it for balance but is still wobbly when not on level surfaces. I am thinking that is going to be the way it will stay. I think only surgery would correct it. Surgery at her age may kill her. So we will both accept things the way they are and make adjustments in daily life activities. At least I still have her.
I did not “see” the eclipse yesterday. I closed the blind in the window that faces in that direction so that it would be harder to be tempted. I did pay more attention to the happenings in the other parts of the sky. I could tell from looking the other direction how the motion was taking place as the colors and spiritual feeling changed. The Light came back. I took some photos and I took photos of the television images of the moon and sun.
My first upload for today is “something red”. The best and most familiar thing in red that I have in the house right now is one of Bob’s sweet shirts of his beloved Ohio State University. Here’s to you Bob.I had the bulletin done and ready for the person giving the message to send me his part. I found out by a third party that it had been changed due to illness. (The “third party” thing makes me feel less like the “we appreciate what you do” is really meaningful). I am grateful for the heads up. So, after some added email communications, I had to make some formatting changes to what was already done.
I had to get a new pressure cooker a while back. I accidently dropped the lid to the one I had after fifteen years and bent the vent pipe. Today I am initiating the new pressure cooker in making beef broth for beef and noodles for dinner. I have sadly given up making homemade noodles. I did some research and found a brand of pasta that most closely fits my homemade taste.
Spring is still making her way into our part of the world. She stays a little longer each week. There are still a few moments of ‘cold’ or chill on the thermometer making the warmer temps even more delicious.
The next upload is “market”. My most visited “market” is the Kroger store, the Dollar Tree and the pet store in this group of stores. The word today is compliment. A compliment is something like a kiss through a veil. Victor Hugo. The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions - the little, soon forgotten charities of a kiss or a smile, a kind look or heartfelt compliment. Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The greatest compliment that was ever paid me was when one asked me what I thought, and attended to my answer. Henry David Thoreau. Everybody likes a compliment. Abraham Lincoln. Whenever a man's friends begin to compliment him about looking young, he may be sure that they think he is growing old. Washington Irving. The rich are always advising the poor, but the poor seldom return the compliment. Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield. I can live for two months on a good compliment. Mark Twain. To dispense with ceremony is the most delicate mode of conferring a compliment. Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton. The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions. Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The best compliment to a mother is to appreciate her little one. Anne Bronte. If people did not compliment one another there would be little society. Marquis De Vauvenargues. Sincerity is the highest compliment you can pay. Ralph Waldo Emerson. Get not your friends by bare compliments, but by giving them sensible tokens of your love. Socrates. You pay God a compliment by asking great things of Him. Teresa of Avila. When you feel in need of a compliment, give one to someone else. John Henry Newman. The habit of paying compliments kept a man's tongue oiled without any expense. Charles Dickens.
The last upload for today is “your (my) neighborhood”. This is the street that I live on. It’s a nice quite and friendly community.Article: It’s hard for me to believe that people who raise animals for any reason, farmers and breeders, would be animal lovers or at least caring . But I am naive. There are breeders in particular who are not.....animal lovers. They are, in my opinion instead, money lovers and care little if anything at all about the animal’s lives. This article is about Ohio dog breeders who are less than honorable. To begin the story one woman paid for a pair of dachshund puppies but never got them. Another story is about what someone called a ‘Ponzi scheme’ where the breeder promised the same animal to more than one person. In another instance when people did receive a puppy from one of the less desirable breeding-sellers was that the puppy was sick and or had worms. These breeders can be found across the US and Canada. Apparently there is one breeder who operates in more than one area or has “employees” who follow her examples. They show little “responsible animal husbandry”. They advertise in all kinds of media mainly the internet. TikTok can also be used. Sometime puppies are advertised before they are born. According to the article payment for these purchases can be made through “PayPal, Venmo or Zelle”. The article went on to report that “there were over $1 million in U.S. puppy scams in 2023". It happens all across the country, “Ohio ranked No. 12 for the highest monetary loss". From what I gather from the article bringing law suits against these breeder brings little settlement.
Beef and noodles for dinner.
