Life today. Wow, I lost control of “time” today. I got caught in one computer project after another. Each of them seemed to take much more time than I counted on it taking. I had a list that looked reasonable for today. I gave up on that one after I got into the very first work on some photos for Instagram. Then that kind of track hit with each new project on today’s check off list. I am about to give up for the day so the rest of the list will have to move over to tomorrow after I get home from printing the bulletin tomorrow.
The first upload for today is “weathered”. This tree has seen all kinds of weather. As the postmen say “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night” has stopped this tree’s natural purpose. There are many memories under its leafy arms.Brian called to see if I wanted the lawn cut today. I told him I though it was a little to wet for that for today. Besides I have to make a stop at the bank first and didn’t want to go out today. The sun is showing itself now but the ground it still wet.
The second upload for today is “hidden”. These gnomes are part of my indoor plant “garden”. They are usually hidden under some of the leaves of the spider and prayer plants.
Tami and Andy got a wind chime for me for mothers day. It has a solar powered light on the top. It gives off an amazing amount of light for such a small bulb. I am hoping that it doesn’t get stolen in the night by someone enamored by it because it is interesting. It also puts out enough light to shine on the front steps.
I had great contact several of my family yesterday. It made a good end of the day for me. I had a phone chat with my great grandson, whose birthday is today. Another nice chat with my son. And contact with my daughter. They were all uplifting since my wedding 61st wedding anniversary would have been yesterday. So there were thoughts and memories of both him and my son Bob.
The third upload today is “shadows”. This is one of the many images of have of shadows that I have taken over time. Shadows are mysterious and fanciful. They make for dreams and imaginations. The word today is education. Nature has always had more force than education. Voltaire. Prejudices, it is well known, are most difficult to eradicate from the heart whose soil has never been loosened or fertilized by education; they grow firm there, firm as weeds among stones. Charlotte Bronte. There is no education like adversity. Benjamin Disraeli. The Church is not a gallery for the exhibition of eminent Christians, but a school for the education of imperfect ones. Henry Ward Beecher. Instruction ends in the schoolroom, but education ends only with life. A child is given to the universe to be educated. Frederick William Robertson. Education is the art of making man ethical. Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. How is it that little children are so intelligent and men so stupid? It must be education that does it. Alexandre Dumas. You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation. Brigham Young. The mind once enlightened cannot again become dark. Thomas Paine. Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. Aristotle. The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living differ from the dead. Aristotle. By seeking and blundering we learn. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. I read my eyes out and can't read half enough...the more one reads the more one sees we have to read. John Adams. Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace. Confucius. A wise parent humors the desire for independent action, so as to become the friend and advisor when his absolute rule shall cease. Elizabeth Gaskell. There is nothing more unequal than the equal treatment of unequal people. Thomas Jefferson. Rewards and punishment is the lowest form of education. Chuang Tzu. The secret of education lies in respecting the pupil. Ralph Waldo Emerson. Instruction does much, but encouragement everything. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Article: It seems bicycles and electric scooters are becoming more and more popular. Maybe for the better for many reasons. Reasons including health (personal and social), money, and a freer life style? This article is about a plan to give some eligible folks an e-bike voucher. The city has noticed that there was an “overwhelming demand for its 2023 electric bicycle subsidy program.” So they have voted to renew a program to allocate money for the purpose to give “qualifying city residents wanting new e-bikes from dealers located within the city limits”. The recipients will be selected based on income. Selection will lead to a cost in the range of $500 to $2,500. Previous funding for this type of program has lead to “289 e-bike, bicycles with an integrated battery and a small electric motor to assist the rider in pedaling, allowing them to travel faster — up to 20 mph”. The program requires that a minimum sale price of $999 for the bicycle. One of the aims of the program is “to lessening gas-powered vehicle use in favor of public transportation and electric vehicles”. The hopes are to get 350 more e-bikes sold through the program. One of the participants said he was looking for “cheap alternatives” for transportation when he learned of the program. He said “I’m like there’s no way they’re giving away money to get an ebike,” and found that it is real, and found that one “purchased would have been too expensive without the voucher”. He rides to work, grocery, and gym. He said that riding the ebike in the winter is challenging but possible with protective clothing. The city officials connected to the program say the bikes are “low-cost, energy-efficient and climate-friendly, and can save the owner thousands of dollars in fuel and maintenance costs over a car”. The original program last year “provided subsidies of up to $1,200, as well as $200 for safety gear”. Recipients must be Columbus resident, 18 or over, with an annual income of less that $150,000". This program will be effective through March 2025.
I think I will make chili for dinner.
