July 7, 2025 a thought for today, Learning which does not advance each day will daily decrease. Chinese Proverb

My first upload for yesterday was “fave corner”. This is on the corner of my front porch. My sister perked it up a bit with the mirror.

The next upload is “where are you from?”. This is a view going east on Broad
Street with some of the tall buildings in downtown visible.

The last upload is “old classic cars”. I don’t normally take photos of cars. I don’t see to many “classic cars”. When I see something unique I will stop for a photo. I found this one on a road trip a few years ago.

Life today. Yesterday after church Lowell took us to lunch so that I would have a chance to see my great grandsons (and their mom) who are here visiting before they have to go back home.

So far it has been a typical Monday. I have the bulletin done and out for proof reading. I made a list yesterday for today. Hopefully I can get the check boxes all checked off before my “close up shop” time.

(I just heard a song that touched me “Before You Go” .....had to stop and look up the history of it. I had a myriad of thoughts.)  The lyrics besides the song writers story (not just the specifics of his story but the story of the loss itself) touched me, hard. Just a reminder...always tell those you love that you love them and maybe the whys that you do before they go.

The first photo upload for today is “road sign”. The tree in the back ground set off the colors. I didn’t go out today so this one is from the archives.

I took a break to make the next batch of Sweet’s meal for the week. I use to make them in the form of meatballs, enough to last three weeks. Now, she seems to prefer a “stew” kind of conglomerate of ground beef, vegetables (sweet potato, carrots, green beans), baby food pumpkin, oats and rice. This “stew” is for one week at a time. The next break in my computer tasks will be to water the “gardens” especially the hydroponic since it needs attention two weeks apart.

All but one of my photos for today are coming from the archives. I didn’t leave the house. Sue was going out. I was tired of tuna sandwiches so I asked her to pick up a Wendys’ Dave Single for me along with the obligatory large unsweetened iced tea.

So far the weather today has been a perfect summer day, a little on the hot side, but gorgeous looking. We are in for some rain later today though.

The next photo for today is “behind the scenes”. I guess this one isn’t so much behind the scenes but it is not at the top of attention where food is the main subject.

The word today is double.  It is double pleasure to deceive the deceiver. Niccolo Machiavelli.  Freedom in art, freedom in society, this is the double goal towards which all consistent and logical minds must strive. Victor Hugo.  If a man could have half of his wishes, he would double his troubles. Benjamin Franklin.  A gift in season is a double favor to the needy. Publilius Syrus.  To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker. Frederick Douglass.  Art has a double face, of expression and illusion, just like science has a double face: the reality of error and the phantom of truth. Publilius Syrus.  From faith, hope, and love, the virtues of religion referring to God, there arises a double act which bears on the spiritual communion exercised between God and us; the hearing of the word and prayer. William Ames.  Sense shines with a double luster when it is set in humility. An able yet humble man is a jewel worth a kingdom. William Penn.  A gift, with a kind countenance, is a double present. Thomas Fuller.  Population, when unchecked, goes on doubling itself every 25 years or increases in a geometrical ratio. Thomas Malthus.  The moral world has no particular objection to vice, but an insuperable repugnance to hearing vice called by its proper name. William Makepeace Thackeray.

The last upload for today is “my choice” and one of my “path or walk” series. This part of the city  doesn’t seem to be to busy at least not at this time of day.

Article: I don’t know why but I have this “attraction” for gardens on tops of buildings. This article talks about the idea of stretching that idea apparently to a distance of buildings. The title is “Columbus' new elevated urban park takes shape: See the views from the Downtown walkway”. For some time in the downtown area there has been a walkway over South 4th Street. There is a plan in the works to expand the “pedestrian passage” and turn it into a “park of sorts”. It even has a name, Preston Park. Apparently it is modeled after a walkway in Manhattan. There will be benches along with tables and chairs. It will be three blocks long from 3rd Street to the 2nd floor entrance to a parking garage at East Capital and South Young Street. There will be accesses on 3rd Street, a 2nd floor entrance in th Preston building, a place on a 4th street parking lot and a few other areas of access. There has been a roof over the existing walkway that has been removed to start the project. Without the roof plants will be able to have sunlight and water as well as allowing for there to be fresh air along the new walkway. Early work has led to widening the walkway. There has been a 20 foot high white metal frame built that “will anchor a stairway to the walkway and an elevator to allow wheelchairs to access the walkway”. There has been a an alley on Capital Street that will be closed between 3rd and Lazelle streets. The project is “expected to completed late this fall.”

I am going to try one of those new-fangled TV dinners called Home Chef for dinner tonight.
