July 9, 2025 a thought for today, Literature does not lead men astray. Chinese Proverb

An upload for yesterday was “my choice” another of my series of paths or walks. This is one of the bicycle paths next the railroad tracks on the Westgate area of Columbus.

The second upload for yesterday was “6:00pm”. That is after the time that I
have ended the day on the computer and have started some projects I do after dinner. I use the tablet during that time for my series of memory exercises and reading on an ebook, mostly mystery or historical fiction, borrowed from the library. I also have the TV on in for soft noise  or to catch my attention when something serious comes on.

The last upload for yesterday was “lists”. These are samples of my budget list (form) and on list of my family menus.

Life today. This was another day I set the alarm....I got up yesterday to be up before expecting a cleaning lady and the lawn mowing friend. Today it was due to an early eye doctor appointment.

Yesterday there was part of the morning chatting with Nancy the cleaning lady and her mother, then another part of the morning chatting with Brian my lawn and handy helping person. I’m not a talker by nature so though I feel good sharing time with my friends and others the talking part seems to wear me out as I was the rest of the day.

My first upload for today is “time”. I have a few clocks that I took some photos of while I was on the search for one I wanted to use for this challenge. I remembered the stop watch that I have had for years. It was hidden among some of my art supplies. I found it in my searching and decided to use it.

Today, the eye doctor. I have to have an annual eye check up due to type 2 diabetes. According to my doctor my eyes are healthy, surprisingly healthier than last checkup. At least the healthy by all tests is great, the sight still isn’t not without glasses, hasn’t been, and never will be 20 20. The cost for a new prescription took me by surprise. I asked for the new lenses to be put into an old pair of frames that I had taken with me, to cut down on the cost. It was still over $400. I was also amazed at all the new machines they use for the testing.

After leaving the doctors I, naturally stopped at McDonalds for a sausage on biscuit and tea. The rest of the way home I looked for a couple of photo shots.

I got the rest of what I need for tomorrows print time ready. Next was to start the computer line up for today including the daily photo work.

The computer or my haste for getting things done gave me a bit of trouble. Calming myself and starting over got the job back on track.

The next upload for today is “thankful for this....”, that I still have Sweet Pea and we are sharing her aging years how every she wants.

The word today is draw.  Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains. Thomas Jefferson. Let age, not envy, draw wrinkles on thy cheeks. Thomas Browne.  The description of right lines and circles, upon which geometry is founded, belongs to mechanics. Geometry does not teach us to draw these lines, but requires them to be drawn. Isaac Newton.  Bad company is like a nail driven into a post, which, after the first and second blow, may be drawn out with little difficulty; but being once driven up to the head, the pincers cannot take hold to draw it out, but which can only be done by the destruction of the wood. Saint Augustine.  If the best man's faults were written on his forehead, he would draw his hat over his eyes. Thomas Gray.  When the sword is once drawn, the passions of men observe no bounds of moderation. Alexander Hamilton.  Beg of God the removal of envy, that God may deliver you from externals, and bestow upon you an inward occupation, which will absorb you so that your attention is not drawn away. Rumi.  Jesus Christ belonged to the true race of prophets. He saw with open eye the mystery of the soul. Drawn by its severe harmony, ravished with its beauty, he lived in it and had his being there. Alone in all history, he estimated the greatness of man. Ralph Waldo Emerson.  In spite of everything I shall rise again: I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing. Vincent Van Gogh.  How many of us have been attracted to reason; first learned to think, to draw conclusions, to extract a moral from the follies of life, by some dazzling aphorism. Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton.  Our own self-love draws a thick veil between us and our faults. Lord Chesterfield.

The last upload for today is another of the “my choice” and another of my series of “paths or walks”. This on was take a while back on a road trip along the Ohio country side.

Article: There are books and there is history around us concerning both. This article tells of one that offers books along with helping a part of our society. For me interestingly I find here, books, history, helping others. The book story in this story is just down the road in Lancaster Ohio. The building it is located in has always housed books but in a different manner than it does now. It was originally a middle school with a name from history, General Sherman. The article title is :A Little Bookstore Is Doing Big Things in Lancaster”. This book store itself is “Tucked inside two old classrooms in a former middle school in Lancaster”. There are “rows and rows” of used books. It is a non profit group who donates 100 percent of the proceeds to the “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Ohio”. The article relates that this plan means that worn and “dog-eared” book or vintage “vinyl” record or DVD helps the mentor ship programs of the young people in Lancaster.  The Book Nook was not always located at its present location on 5th Avenue. It started over 50 years ago. At that time is was called TWIG 17. Then there were annual book sales with the proceeds going to the Fairfield Medical Center. In 2014 they were located in a storefront. In 2023 they renamed and joined with the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) organization in Lancaster. The two groups, the Book Nook and the BBBS are both located in the old General Sherman Middle School on W. Fifth Ave. The article closes saying "it’s a full-circle kind of setup: books in the front, mentor ship in the back".

I am making tuna casserole for dinner.
