April 6, 2022 a thought for today, God made man upright, but man searched out many crooked devices. Hebrew Proverb
The first photo of the day for April 5 was “lunch”. One of my favorites when I am out and about. Fast food is handy dandy and this one a “salad of onion, tomato, lettuce, burger (protein), and condiments on at bun (starch, carb) along with a nice cold beverage.
This appeared to be the only day I have free the rest of this week to go to the grocery store, so off we went. And as usual it is taking me all day to put everything away. The plan is to get all the frozen and cold items put away first. Then the rest can be taken care of as breaks can be taken from other “irons the fire”.
The second photo challenge for yesterday was “farming”.....that a little hard to find in the city. So this one is from my archives taken on a drive in the country side.
I had to check on one item before I sent the bulletin out for review. I sent out a necessary email before I left for the store and got my answer when I got home. So that is done and done.
Now it will be multitasking with groceries/computer/dinner.
When we left for the store it was overcast and dreary...when we came out of the store the sun was bright and happy. Now....it’s back to overcast.
The word today is share. The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own. Benjamin Disraeli. All who joy would win must share it. Happiness was born a Twin. Lord Byron. Think of what you are, you Christians. You are God's children; you are joint heirs with Christ. The 'many mansions' are for you; the palms and harps of the glorified are for you. You have a share in all that Christ has and is and shall be. Charles Spurgeon. All things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man... the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports. Chief Seattle. Man should not consider his material possession his own, but as common to all, so as to share them without hesitation when others are in need. Thomas Aquinas. The share we have in the knowledge of truth, such as it is, has not been acquired by our own powers. God has taught us his wonderful secrets; our faith is not of our acquiring, it is purely the gift of another's bounty, Michel de Montaigne. Can I see a falling tear, And not feel my sorrow's share? William Blake. However weak we are, however poor, however little our faith, or however small our grace may be, our names are still written on His heart; nor shall we lose our share in Jesus' love. Charles Spurgeon. When you help scholars, you gain a share in their learning, Nachman of Breslov.
Today my fist photo is “dinner”. This is one of my favorites, baked fist, rice pilaf and a nice hot roll. This article brings attention to one of the names that is familiar to most people in Columbus, Darby. This name comes up in several areas, Big and Little Darby Creek, several businesses, schools, churches and parks. According to the article some think it has an American Indian connection. One of the people exploring the name and its possible connotation stated that there is no direct proof of an American Indian involvement. There one document that stated that the Darby creeks were named after an Indian, but no sort of proof as confirmation. It was found through research that in 1806 both creeks were named “Derby Creek”. Both word’s Derby and Darby “come from the same root” of English origin meaning deer village. At that time and in that area there were flocks of deer so there lies the connection. So somehow by 1820 the e in Derby became a. Here is another explanation that seems a little on the strange side to me...”there is a tool called a Darby or a Darby plain”. This tool is used to making things flat.....Darby Creek is located around an area of plains. There is a city called Plain City near part of the Big Darby Creek and at one time was called Darbyville.
It’s going to be a left over night for dinner.
