December 8, 2022 a thought for today, Men see only the present; heaven sees the future. Chinese Proverb
The first upload for yesterday was “tree”. At this time of year there are a lot of decorated Christmas trees up. Yesterday I decided I would just use some of the outside trees for this image. So far it has been a typical Thursday for me. I was up with the alarm. I went through my usual morning virtual visits and then off to church for the usual printing and circulating. This morning there were a couple of phone calls that had to be dealt with. I had agreed to copy, staple and place a ten-page booklet for HM3. I also passed on (texted) one of the phone messages so that it could be taken care of as soon as possible. So, it was mush like a professional secretary’s job today. Another slightly unusual happening, at least for the past few weeks, I was able to have a chat with Chris.
The second image I uploaded yesterday was “books”. I do most of my reading today by ebooks or on Google for research. But I do have a collection of books that I have gathered, earned or collected, so here are some of them.I had to make a stop at the bank today so that I could order supplies to finish my Christmas “shopping” (making gifts) before the end of next week. After the stop at the bank I was on the look out for the photos today.
So as part of the “normal” Thursday to-do list, I started the laundry as soon as I got home. That will take until dinner time to finish while I continue the “multi tasking” on the computer and in the kitchen.
One of my images for today is “looking up”. This have been an assignment before so I have other types of image. Today I decided to “look up” at my stair case heading to the upper level. I like the shapes and shades of color in this one.The word for today thoughts. The more man meditates upon good thoughts, the better will be his world and the world at large. Confucius. To me the meanest flower that blows can give thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears. William Wordsworth. Thinking is easy, acting is difficult, and to put one's thoughts into action is the most difficult thing in the world. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. To find yourself, think for yourself, Socrates. The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts, Marcus Aurelius. The ancestor of every action is a thought, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Thought is free, William Shakespeare. The laws of nature are but the mathematical thoughts of God. Euclid. Prayer is an act of love; words are not needed. Even if sickness distracts from thoughts, all that is needed is the will to love. Saint Teresa of Avila. Great men are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material force - that thoughts rule the world. Ralph Waldo Emerson. Politeness is the art of choosing among your thoughts. Madame de Stael. Eloquence is a painting of the thoughts. Blaise Pascal. Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts. John Calvin. There are two distinct classes of what are called thoughts: those that we produce in ourselves by reflection and the act of thinking and those that bolt into the mind of their own accord. Thomas Paine.
My next upload for today is a different assignment for “something red”. The topper on my Christmas tree this year is a red star. That was a simple choice for me to make. When the Third Way Café opened here on the westside, truthfully I didn’t expect it to stay open long. I was apparently wrong. It seems to have become a rather popular place and, I noticed from this article, has even expanded. It has been here on the westside since December of 2017 now they have opened a second spot on Parson’s Ave. They partnered with the group called All People Arts. People have their coffee surrounded by art. I gathered from the article they would like to continue to expand. They have created their coffee shops while “targeting areas where there is potential for development and conversations” . They want to encourage people to “think in a different way – to see the shades of gray and have conversations that lead to more understanding”. Another of their goals and hopes are “be supporters of all things local”. They use the coffees that are from “roasters” in the area. In both of the Third Way Cafes they offer “a full lineup of coffee and espresso drinks, from nitro cold brew to hot and iced lattes”. In the westside shop a Westgate neighbor supplies sweets to the shop. The westside shop went through some renovations which included some expansion. The westside shop also hosts food trucks as well as other entertainment now and then.
More air fry for dinner....French “fries” and beer battered fish or “grilled” chicken patties. I am learning to adjust temperatures and times to fit our tastes.
