November 15, 2024 a thought for today, The sparrow flying behind the hawk thinks the hawk is fleeing. Japanese Proverb
The first upload for yesterday was “delicate things”. This is another of the treasures we found in some of my aunts collections.
The next upload challenge was “fire(y)works”. I don’t have a photo that I could find with fireworks. Since had the “y” in the challenge description I decided to generate this image from a stained glass window. I used a motion filter. I felt the colors were much like those of fireworks.
Life today. The rental car and I are doing ok, so far. I did have some trouble adjusting the passenger seat for Sweet Pea (I an being thoughtful I hope, putting a cover over the seat). That wasn’t the problem, adjusting the position was. It’s done after some trial and error. My Camry is a 2012, this one is a 2022. Fate is working in this adventure too. I drove to church yesterday, got to the door, realized I couldn’t find my keys to the building and office. I had to drive back home to look then back to the church. That lended to some practice using the car.
To the other minor change in my life, the laptop is getting the job done, so far. There are pretty big differences, I am adjusting and grateful to have any computer as back up.
The first upload for today is “locks”. I was going to use a master key lock on our garage door but decided to use the set of locks on my back door.It seems, at least to may way of thinking, that when some “major” changes happen in life that affect daily endeavors, other, even common activities, seem off kilter. I am finding it is a big learning experience and addition to my knowledge base. Life, nature and God work in mysterious ways.
I am working on my personal everyday projects on this Friday. As I mentioned in another letter, things are slower on the laptop so I won’t be getting to some of my other self-assigned tasks today. Since I am not planning of getting out on photo hunts for a little while, not til my car is back, I will be using my archives a bit more. That brings up another point. I use Photoshop a lot. I do searches to find filed photos in Adobe’s partner to Photoshop, Bridge. My key word file is saved on the “home” computer. Now thinking about that, I stated a search on the laptop then found that my key word base is not on this computer. I have to search for archived photos in the Gallery feature on my phone, where only the photos I have shot with the cell phone are also stored.
The next upload for today is “abstract”. This is a flower image that I had taken some time ago. I used a filer to change the image to an abstract.I do plan to get the grocery order done today. When I made the appointment for Lowell and I to take the computer to Micro Center I didn’t consider the timing with my usual Saturday grocery pickup. I will be adjusting that time.
We are having some cloudy and damp weather these past few days. It’s just another sign of the changing season.
Another upload for today is “graffiti”. There is a shop not far from my home that is in the business of “selling” graffiti art. This is one of their designs.
The word today is preform. Great ambition is the passion of a great character. Those endowed with it may perform very good or very bad acts. All depends on the principles which direct them. Napoleon Bonaparte. Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well. Vincent Van Gogh. Wise to resolve, and patient to perform. Homer. No president who performs his duties faithfully and conscientiously can have any leisure. James K. Polk. I have now taken a serious task upon myself and I fear a greater one that is in the power of any man to perform in the given time-but it is too late to go back. Eli Whitney. People must have righteous principals in the first, and then they will not fail to perform virtuous actions. Martin Luther. Never promise more than you can perform. Publilius Syrus. Rarely promise, but, if lawful, constantly perform. William Penn. He who considers too much will perform little. Friedrich Schiller. In spiritual things, it is God who performs all things for you. Rest in Him, then. Charles Spurgeon. He who has a task to perform must know how to take sides, or he is quite unworthy of it. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. For how many things, which for our own sake we should never do, do we perform for the sake of our friends. Marcus Tullius Cicero. A soul preoccupied with great ideas best performs small duties. Harriet Martineau. No duty the Executive had to perform was so trying as to put the right man in the right place. Thomas Jefferson.
This is one of the days that I have a fourth photo a day upload. This one is “kitchen”. This is a portion of my kitchen. I am in line with it as I sit in my desk chair working on my laptop. This article is a short view about animals and one of their many service types to humans. The title is: “Matching veterans with rescued dogs”. It is about an organization based in Delaware, Ohio that works at “Rescuing dogs to rescue veterans”. They have a motto called “Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS)”. On November 11 they gave a program to a “packed house” in the Madison Senior Citizens Center in London. The meeting touched on how they work to match dogs to “loving homes with veterans struggling with social isolation, emotional distress, and trauma”. The article reported that the man who is running this service is a retired Navy captain after 29 and a half years in the Navy. He is from a military family. He taught “naval science” at the OSU. He was a Junior ROTC instructor for 18 years. He says the working with finding home for the rescue dogs to service men in need is “probably one of the most impactful positions I’ve ever held.” They made the first placement in 2018. From there they have placed 50 dogs. The article told how veterans interested in receiving a rescue dog are asked to fill out an application and attend an “interest” meeting. This way the representatives can get to know them and find a dog that would fit their lifestyle and needs. The program covers all cost of “food, veterinary care, training, and supplies for the first year”. To find dogs suited to this process some of the places used are the “Humane Society of Delaware County, Rescued Ohio, and Gigi’s in Canal Winchester, a care center for homeless dogs”. They are looking for dogs between 1 and 5 years old. They don’t guarantee the breed of the do the vet will get but the consider size, personality and gender. Once the two are matched the dog and new human attend a training program that meets once a week for seven weeks. Even after the two, dog and master, have become trained they is ongoing support when there is a connection with other veterans.
It’s DoorDash night, not sure if it will be Josie’s or Wendys’.

almost time to fade out for winter
