April 4, 2025 a thought for today, We are all one child spinning through Mother Sky. Native American Shawnee Proverb
Yesterday’s first upload was “faceless portrait”. I like these style images that show a person in some sort of motion.
happening. This is one I capture when I let Sweet Pea out at the end of the day.
Life today. Last nights worship/outreach meeting went along well. It was one of those times when it was nice to be with peers. Everything was agreeable and accomplished. When we left the deluge of rain was starting. Since I don’t drive anymore in the dark one of my friends picks me up and brings me home.
So far it has been an easy-going Friday. I got a better nights sleep last night than the night before. The first night there was at least one powerful and rolling round of thunder. What I meant by powerful, was for me, at that very instant there was a feeling of God’s presence. There was no fear only awesome wonder. And much more rain and thunder that followed. Last night there was little or no thunder but a whole lot of rain.
The first upload for today is “cereal”. I don’t eat much cereal but when I do I like Rice Krispies. Sue is the Cherrios fan so I used her box and bowl as my prop for todays image.I don’t have a lot on my agenda today. Rebecca was going to take Sweet Pea for a grooming this afternoon but she had to reschedule. Another situation came up that needed attention today. I was going to go along to see the grooming set up. The groomer seems to like Sweet Pea a lot and Sweet Pea seems to like her too. When she get home she walks around like she is proud of herself. And she should be, she looks good. Right now she is “shaggy” and her nails need cut.
We went out on a “photo excursion” earlier. Then I came home and spent a little time in the “darkroom”. Now I need to spend a little time in the kitchen. After that it will be time to spend some time on the grocery order.
The weather is calm right now with a mild overcast. But they are saying there is another night and more of rain heading right for us. These weather conditions of the past several months seem a bit on the extreme side and are a real puzzle for me.
The second upload for today is “arches or shaped like” this is one of the entryways to the front of my hours. I have several photos in th archives of the arches in our church but decided to use this one since I shot it today. The word is way. Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like. Lao Tzo. Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking. Marcus Aurelius. Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy. Aristotle. The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be. Socrates. There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will. Epictetus. There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting. Buddha. Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws. Plato. Love will find a way through paths where wolves fear to prey. Lord Byron. Either I will find a way, or I will make one. Philip Sidney. The way to know life is to love many things. Vincent Van Gogh. Love will find its way through all languages on its own. Rumi. The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly. Abraham Lincoln. Without the way, there is no going; without the truth, there is no knowing; without the life, there is no living. Thomas a Kempis. You shall, I question not, find a way to the top if you diligently seek for it; for nature hath placed nothing so high that it is out of the reach of industry and valor. Alexander the Great. God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform. He plants his footsteps in the sea, and rides upon the storm. William Cowper. If, then, you are looking for the way by which you should go, take Christ, because He Himself is the way. Thomas Aquinas. Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it. Vincent Van Gogh.
The last upload for today is the “glimmer micro moment” for today. One of the many stop lights I observe as I am traveling from place to place each trip outside.Article: I hope I don’t bore everyone with articles about animals but.....so be it. (Smile). The title to this article is: “Why do dogs love to play with trash?”, written by a veterinarian/professor of small animal science. The article begins with mentioning that dogs have “an amazing sense of smell”. The capability is made possible with 300 million receptors of small in their noses while humans have only 6 million”. That fact may account for the face that “garbage smells delicious and tastes good to dogs”. Because of their sense of smell dogs have been trained to “detect illegal drugs, explosives and endangered species, and to help locate people lost in the woods”. To move in a different direction of their smelling capabilities “apple cores, banana peels, meat scraps and stale bread.....even used napkins and paper towels are tempting to dogs, when they are smeared with and carry the smell of yesterday’s lunch”. The author relates that once a dog has gotten into the garage once and may found something “tasty, they will likely keep searching with the hope of being rewarded again”. She, the author, also mentions that searching and digging for food is naturally for dogs “because it provides some of the thrill of the hunt”. Dogs seemed to have learned that “hanging around humans and their garbage was a way they could get plenty to eat”. She goes on to relate that some people use this sniffing action, maybe with puzzle toys filled with food to keep pups’ minds active. What is dangerous for the pet drawn to the smells and tastes is “plastic bags, string, chicken bones, chemicals or rotten food”. These items can cause “blockages, diarrhea and poisoning”. To keep dogs away from garbage cans with lids with a latch or it may become necessary to keep garbage in a closed room.
It’s DoorDash or GrubHub tonight.
