May 31, 2024 a thought for today, If the fight is tomorrow, why then clench your fist today? Chinese Proverb

My fist upload for the 30th was “infinity”. I liked this one for that idea. The blue sky, the ever present clouds, and the opening in the clouds to endless sky.  Even the road seemingly leading to everywhere, nowhere and anywhere added to the sense of infinity.

The second upload for yesterday was “people watching”. It could mean people
watching other people or people watching what they are doing. I chose the second as these workmen watching what they are doing.

The last upload for yesterday was “socks”. As I was out and about I was glancing at everyone feet. It seems none that I was wearing awesome colors or patterns so this was picked to be the entry.

Life today. I didn’t have to get up at any special time today. There is noting on an agenda that has a “due date/time”.

I got a couple of early text messages that caused some concern. One of my grandsons has a fever and it comes at a time that could cause some changes in plans. Then another text about one of the ladies who comes to help with the cleaning. Her mother has had a stroke ....she came through it without leftover disabilities. I needed to get a card ready to send to her.

After tending to those concerns I dealt with another situation. I had a letter from the newspaper that my subscription fee was going up. I called to straighten out that problem. They hadn’t canceled my subscription as I had requested two weeks ago. It also appeared that my e-subscription was going to go up in price. After about fifteen minutes we had that straightened out, I think.

Then I was able to get to clearing out the frig and loading the dishwasher. Now back to the computer.

The first upload for today is “straight out of the camera, no edit”. This is one lonely little dandelion growing between spaces in the two kinds of bricks on the patio. There are lots of texture and touches of color to show.

Brian is doing the lawn today. He seems to get here later and later. I like to have him come in the morning and have things done by noon. However, he seems to have a bit of a different schedule. Hopefully we can come to an understanding next week.

We had another visit to Zanesville a couple of days ago. I got to see more of the house and the kids were here this time. They wanted to show their rooms and some of the many things that interest them about the new house. They have “inherited” two outdoor cats. They have seen three deer across the road from their house. They wanted to introduce one of their new neighbors who was out walking the dog. Lily and Shadow, two of my fur-grand dogs were glad to have a visit too.

The twins, Sue’s great grand daughters, are out of school now so it looks like she will be spending more time with them.

The next upload today is “towel”. This is the hand towel in the powder room. Not all that exciting but there is texture and lines and patterns to make it a piece of art even if minimal.

The word today is firm. Stand firm and immovable as an anvil when it is beaten upon. Ignatius of Loyola.  It is good to be firm by temperament and pliant by reflection. Luc de Clapiers.  While the world changes, the cross stands firm. Bruno of Cologne.  The superior man undergoes three changes. Looked at from a distance, he appears stern; when approached, he is mild; when he is heard to speak, his language is firm and decided. Confucius.  Prayer cleanses from sin, drives away temptations, stamps out persecutions, comforts the fainthearted, gives new strength to the courageous, brings travellers safely home, calms the waves, confounds robbers, feeds the poor, overrules the rich, lifts up the fallen, supports those who are falling, sustains those who stand firm. Tertullian.  Build today, then strong and sure, With a firm and ample base; And ascending and secure. Shall tomorrow find its place. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  Nothing is so firmly believed as that which we least known. Michel de Montaigne.  The wise man has no firm principles. He adapts to others. Lao-Tse.  In order to have a good hand, it must be light, gentle, and firm. Francois Robichon de La Gueriniere.  Prayer plumes the wings of God's young eaglets so that they may learn to mount above the clouds. Charles Spurgeon. The firm, the enduring, the simple, and the modest are near to virtue. Confucius.  Build today, then strong and sure, With a firm and ample base; And ascending and secure. Shall tomorrow find its place. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

The last upload for today and for this month is “wood”. This is a thirty-year old evergreen trunk showing the art of scars and ravages of nature and humans on this piece of nature.

Article: A long time and popular icon in our city will be growing. The Franklin Park is growing. “Franklin Park Conservatory Unveils 25-Year Transformational Master Plan”. The plan is for “more than 15 capital projects that will significantly enhance the overall site”.  The entrance from Broad Street will be relocated. There will be new underground parking available. Along with those there several other new construction projects and renovations. The new visitor center will include a restaurant, gift shop, and possible art gallery. A “Gateway Building will feature both underground parking and rooftop gardens. There will be room for a year-round butterfly “experience”.  Some of the renovations will include offices, class rooms, and play areas. An expansion is included in the plan for the Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden”. The  John F. Wolfe Palm House and Dorothy M. Davis were originally constructed in 1895 and received an upgrade in the 1980s. According to the article “They are one of only five Victorian-era glass houses left in the country and probably the most important architectural structures in Columbus”. The article went on to mention that the Palm House is special and “needs priority attention”. The project is still in the planning process with “a lot of work to do, but we’re still in the planning stage in terms of fund-raising.” The Palm House and Showhouse will be closed to the public while construction is underway. All the glass in the buildings will be removed. It was noted that it is doubtful that anyone has ever seen the Palm House without glass. The hope is to “elevate the entire property to a whole new botanical status.......we’d love to create the Central Park of Ohio”. Another of the hopes is to be “more competitive with other large cities” adding cultural and educational assets to a “world-class experience”. The final project won’t be evident over night, as a matter of fact for the whole project to be finished it take 25 years.

Here it is again.....pizza night (like the Taco Tuesday I know about from someone else).

this is the last day of May 2024 so as is my tradition here are some additions to my portfolio.
