June 8, 2024 a thought for today, The gift itself can be light while carrying a heavy message. Chinese Proverb

One of my uploads for yesterday was “photographers choice”. I like the formation of these clouds and how overpowering their existence seemed to the structures below.

The next upload was “half full/half empty”. This was on of the challenges that I “grabbed on the fly” so to speak. It was a quick capture.

The third image is for yesterday was “I have...” My answer to this is I have an awesome neighborhood both in its neatness and in its occupants. We have a friendly and supportive “family” community.

Life today. I wonder why it is that Saturdays bring memories of good old school days? Perhaps it is the memory of not having to get up for school, a day to roll over in bed. Then a day all for freedom in lazy choices. I guess that would be if there were no household chores on the list. At least it wasn’t a class room and “rules” that went with it.

I did “roll over” for about ten more minutes. Then I just leisurely went through my virtual routines checking news headings, facebook contacts and emails.

I started the letter today then searched for some of my archives for the photos I need for today. Sometimes the challenge for the day is not “relatable” to my area of the world, ie, ocean related items as well as mountains and specific weather conditions. But I take photos to store for days like this. I have a pond critters challenge and a world ocean day today.

The first upload today is “pond critters!”. There is a pond in the neighborhood that is an icon due to all of the years it has been there. It is used for fishing outings as well as ice skating jaunts in the winter. One of the critter species that are almost always around the pond are ducks and geese.

Sweet Pea and I picked up the groceries and did a little photo spotting before stopping at McDonalds. I mean, one of my photos today is “I like to eat..” So naturally it had to be McDonalds.

The sun is with us today but the air has a bit of a “chill” enough so so that I have a sweat shirt on with the screen doors open.

I have the groceries put away and I still have a couple of things on the agenda. This is one of the days my hydroponic plants need tended to. I hemmed a new pair of pants that need the new hem pressed in before I wear them to church tomorrow. Then I think I will make some cheesy potatoes.

The next upload for today is “world ocean day”. This is one from my archives. It is one of my grandsons, Mick, on the beach, flying a kite. He was often at the beach will living in California.

The word today is forward. Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Soren KierkegaarLife is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like. Lao Tzu.  Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you. George Whitefield.  Study the past if you would define the future. Confucius.  He who moves not forward, goes backward. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.  Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward; they may be beaten, but they may start a winning game. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.  The important work of moving the world forward does not wait to be done by perfect men. George Eliot.  Forward, as occasion offers. Never look round to see whether any shall note it... Be satisfied with success in even the smallest matter, and think that even such a result is no trifle. Marcus Aurelius.  I hope to stand firm enough to not go backward, and yet not go forward fast enough to wreck the country's cause. Abraham Lincoln.  One who never turned his back but marched breast forward, never doubted clouds would break, Never dreamed, though right were worsted, wrong would triumph, Held we fall to rise, are baffled to fight better, sleep to wake. Robert Browning.  When meeting difficult situations, one should dash forward bravely and with joy. Yamamoto Tsunetomo.  By putting forward the hands of the clock you shall not advance the hour. Victor Hugo.

The last upload for today is “I live to eat....” Most times it is fast food but I would take a gourmet meal any day of the week.

Article: Sounds like interesting things can be found in our town or are being more recognized. The title to the article referred to “Celebrate Clean Water and Have a Blast at Riverfest”. My interest was more on the “riverfest” thought feeling that it would be more attention to the river that flows through our city. Visiting the rive at any moment in time can be a time with nature just sitting and enjoying it’s near silent motion, its gift of nature. It can mean silent reflection in a fishing outing. It can mean boating of all sorts. Riverfest is held at Bicentennial Park on the Scioto Mile. For this event, “Riverfest” this is kayaking and paddle boarding along with “something for everyone”. But “Riverfest isn’t just about splashing around. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to learn about our precious water resources”. It offers a study on the subject of clean water and how we can “play a part in keeping our rivers and lakes pristine”. According to the article the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland “have been busy creating videos and designing rain barrels that showcase the importance of clean water”.  Also considered in the clean water thought is Alum Creek, Big Darby Creek, Big Walnut Creek, the Olentangy River, and the Scioto River”. Riverfest is a “community celebration” to bring people together to enjoy the “great outdoors and support a fantastic cause”. The event this year is this weekend.

It’s going to be taco salad or hot dogs for dinner. I’ll see what the taste buds are dictating later today.
