June 6, 2024 a thought for today, To be for one day entirely at leisure is to be for one day an immortal. Chinese Proverb
An upload for yesterday was “photographers choice”. I saw this as I passed by on a drive through the neighborhood. I instantly had a second thought, checked rear view mirror for traffic, none coming for two blocks back, backed up two houses and got this shot.
A third upload for yesterday was “mother”. This is mine. She was a totally American-Irish lady. She and my dad gave us a perfect childhood or as perfect as one can be. One with the good and the sad of life and taught us how to live with both and/or either with dignity and grace. I hope their lessons noticeably stuck.
Life today The church was busy this morning as I did the printing and reloaded the camera with the cleared memory card. It was another food delivery day from Mid Ohio. Many of one of the groups that meet in the church was there to help get the load into the building. Patti couldn’t be there today so Bob was there to take care of a request for sleeping bags. I had lots of company while I got the printing and the memory card tended to.
Andy came over to finish up some of the work on the back door. Tami had other errands to run today so she didn’t get to come by.
Today the weather is back to warmer. It isn’t bad (hot) today just at the lower edge of requiring the air conditioner at least until evening.
The first upload for today is “dog”. Well, this one is an easy one. I only have one dog handy for this challenge. Besides even though she is not a “ham” photo wise and would gladly forgo the honor here she is again.I got the laundry started after Andy left. I want to get that done and finish the letter I am working on as well as todays photos. I have them ready for Photoshop, it will take just a little time in the digital darkroom.
Tomorrow and Saturday should be easy going and I don’t have a “to-do list” ready at least not yet. Between now and then, I have a meeting at church tonight.
The next upload for today is one of the “photographers choice”. This is one of my first day lily blooms of the season. They seem much taller to me this year and the blooms seem smaller.
The word today is form. The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal. Aristotle. I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. Thomas Jefferson. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Charles Caleb Colton. Grace is the beauty of form under the influence of freedom. Friedrich Schiller. The planter, the farmer, the mechanic, and the laborer... form the great body of the people of the United States, they are the bone and sinew of the country men who love liberty and desire nothing but equal rights and equal laws. Andrew Jackson. I read, I study, I examine, I listen, I think, and out of all that I try to form an idea into which I put as much common sense as I can. Marquis de Lafayette. Love is the attempt to form a friendship inspired by beauty. Marcus Tullius Cicero. Leftovers in their less visible form are called memories. Stored in the refrigerator of the mind and the cupboard of the heart. Thomas Fuller. Language is the dress of thought. Samuel Johnson. The form of truth will bear exposure, as well as that of beauty herself. Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The man for whom the law exists - the man of forms, the conservative - is a tame man. Ralph Waldo Emerson. Jealousy is the most radical primeval and naked form of admiration in war paint, so to speak. Robert Louis Stevenson.
My last photo challenge upload for today is "I love.....". My neighborhood is full of “adult” trees with full boughs of beautiful green leaves in these three seasons of the year (spring, summer, autumn). I “love” their canopies of leaves as I travel under their gifts of nature.Article: Bob was waiting for this.....a Guy Fieri eatery in Columbus. He was one of Bob’s favorite TV food critics. He has a “fun” nature with describing foods. Although, just for a bit of a change and a chance for others, I would like for him to be able to enjoy a hiatus from his show(s) for a while. I would have a change to see some others when surfing for delectable foods....more that my acid reflux will allow. His first and long awaited restaurant is now in Columbus at the Scioto Downs casino. He was born here in Columbus and still has family in the area. He says the new facility will give him more of a chance to come back and visit, I’m sure he would be welcomed anyway. He has 100 restaurants serving foods as barbecue, sandwiches, tacos, chicken, burgers and other dishes, largely at casinos, airports and on cruise ships”. This venture is his “first to specialize in a broader Italian menu than pizza”. This restaurant is on the inside of Scioto Downs Casino. The decor of the eatery is “red and shiny”. The menu is mostly traditional Italian-American foods with some “adventurous”, as it seems matches his TV character, dishes on the menu. One of the offerings is “spaghetti all’ assassina, or assassin’s spaghetti, which is a Pugliese dish in which the pasta is cooked like risotto in tomato broth and a sauce with the heat of chili peppers”. There is also an alfredo sauce that “includes his own brand of tequila and a flaming cheese appetizer modeled after Greek saganaki”. On the menu is a 68 layer lasagna dish delicately prepared and served as a slice of “cake on its side” and many more recognizable Italian choices.
It is going to be sandwiches and soup for dinner.
