September 8, 2024 a thought for today, He who strikes first admits that his ideas have given out.  Chinese Proverb

The first upload yesterday was “curves” . I drove around looking for the “right” image and took several shots. This one was my favorite when I opened them in Photoshop. It shows several “curves”. It also offers fun colors as an attraction to the young and young at heart.

The next upload for yesterday was “favourite scenery”. This is my favorite, my own neighborhood, especially in the summer time with all of the trees as a frame.

The last upload for yesterday was “1st person I saw” today. It was an hour or so after I got up and started my daily computer jaunt before I saw anyone. As I saw this person passing the house I grabbed the camera but couldn’t get it open and set until the “subject” had moved a good distance away.

Life today. Sixty-two years ago last month I held my first baby boy. One year ago today I gave him back to God. So today there are the memories of those first touches of my son. There are the memories of all the years comforting him and hoping he was happy. Then there comes the memory of heartbreaking moments when I held him last year as his tears, and mine, flowed as he knew he was leaving us soon. He is with two very dear friends of his, along with his grandfathers and mothers and his Savior.  He is safely tucked in my heart along with his sister’s and brother’s memories and hearts. All the family remember him...he was a loving person and adored family gatherings as well as the OSU football games and his Ham Radio experiences. He was truly an angel unaware.

The first upload for today is “strong-your interpretation”. This tower of concrete and steel is my interpretation of strong.

Today at church was a release of sorts. I’m sure there will be more. One of my favorite ministers gave the message. It wasn’t and didn’t have to be about Bob. It was a “hug” being in the house of God and in the company of my church family.

I don’t plan much today, it’s Sunday after all.

It was “cool” enough when I woke this morning that I turned the furnace on for an hour or so to warm things up a bit. All summer I have been sleeping with only a sheet on the bed. Last night it was the sheet, a light fleece blanket and a light weight quilt.....it felt sooo good.

The next upload for today is “shadows on the wall”. This shows the sun coming through one of the windows showing the shadow from the porch with my rubber tree as a half frame.

The word today is motion.  Revenge... is like a rolling stone, which, when a man hath forced up a hill, will return upon him with a greater violence, and break those bones whose sinews gave it motion. Jeremy Taylor.  There is no such thing as perpetual tranquillity of mind while we live here; because life itself is but motion, and can never be without desire, nor without fear, no more than without sense. Thomas Hobbes.  Never confuse motion with action. Benjamin Franklin.  Painting is concerned with all the 10 attributes of sight; which are: Darkness, Light, Solidity and Colour, Form and Position, Distance and Propinquity, Motion and Rest. Leonardo da Vinci.  An object in motion tends to remain in motion along a straight line unless acted upon by an outside force. Isaac Newton.  Vegetation is the basic instrument the creator uses to set all of nature in motion. Antoine Lavoisier.  The virtues and vices are all put in motion by interest. Francois de La Rochefoucauld.  Moreover, since the sun remains stationary, whatever appears as a motion of the sun is really due rather to the motion of the earth. Nicolaus Copernicus.  Everything is in motion. Everything flows. Everything is vibrating. William Hazlitt. Some desire is necessary to keep life in motion, and he whose real wants are supplied must admit those of fancy. Samuel Johnson.  Love can no more continue without a constant motion than fire can; and when once you take hope and fear away, you take from it its very life and being. Francois de La Rochefoucauld.  The equatorial line is, in fact, the centre of atmospheric motion. John Hanning Speke.

The last challenge upload for today is “night”.  I love one of the new features on the Samsung 24+ camera add on software... Astrophoto

Article: This adventure sounds not only educational but interesting and fun. “This Ohio Park Lets You Keep 375-Million-Year-Old Fossils – For Free!” There is a park in one of Columbus’ not so close neighbors but still within comfortable driving distance. From what I read there are “fossils from the Devonian period” and the “park offers a rare opportunity to dig up and keep 375-million-year-old treasures”. As the article goes on it explains that “Ohio was a very different place—completely submerged under a shallow, tropical sea”.  The era in history was known as the Age of Fishes.  I learned that the “warm waters were home to marine life like trilobites, coral reefs, and the first bony fish”. The fossils remaining now opens a window to the “dramatic geological changes that occurred, shaping Ohio into the land we know today”. The activities of this park allow people today to hunt for those “fossilized brachiopods, corals, and a variety of marine life”. The article says that you don’t need fancy tools to participate in a “dig”. Some folks even dig with just their hands since the surrounding sol is so soft. Bringing along a brush would be handy. The are “spans five acres, with an ADA-accessible quarry”. The park is open from mid-April to October. Admission is free. There are other activities in the park like “biking, walking, or running, so even in the off-season, there’s plenty to enjoy”. It claimed to be a great spot for educational field trips. Fossil Park is located at 5705 Centennial Rd, Sylvania, OH 43560. outdoorsylvania.com/fossil-park. “The fossil pit is an open area without trees or shade. If you visit on a sunny day, plan to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water”

I think I will make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.
