June 11, 2025 a thought for today, He who hurries cannot walk with dignity. Chinese Proverb

My first upload for yesterday was “my choice”. I is one of my series of “reflections”.  This a mirror in the dining room reflecting the blinds on the front door.

The second upload was “macro”. We have a bit of red in the lawn along with the yellow of the dandelion. I think it is a wild strawberry.

Another upload for yesterday was “random fridge item”. My fridge is full of odds and ends. I chose my bowl of pre-cut cantaloupe melon.

Yesterday was one of the days for  my group that has four photos a day in the month.  This challenge was called “broken or cracked”. This pull on my dresser drawer isn’t really broken, just needs tightened.

Life today. I guess I am somewhat like my husband’s grandfather, he was never anxious to go anywhere and let us know with a grumble. But when he got back he was in want to let people know that he was happy he went.  I am that way with meetings but am grateful for the being with companions and learning about all kinds of things gathered on that mini journey of life that helps guide and comfort me. One was last night, I am happy with the faces I saw and fellowship I felt.

I was thinking a day ahead. I was planning to go to church to print tomorrow and sent message making sure I had any necessary corrections until I realized I have a free day. So today is another of the easy going days that I enjoy. It’s the kind of day that memories can pop up, that’s what they are for, a time to remember and to build.

My first upload for today is “what’s in my pocket?” This is one of the ipod phones that Bob had in his box of “toys”. I decided to transfer it in my pocket for a while. It felt good.

It is a day that there is not much housework showing itself as needing attention. So out of sight out of mind, for today anyway. Of course there always the things collected over the years that need be let go after years of being a “security blanket”. That can be put off for another time. I have been taking baby steps with each of them in deciding to let go or keep for one more year. But not today I am too comfortable with today’s direction. Aw, heck, to keep the ball rolling, I may take a few minutes to shred some old income tax papers from ten or so years ago.

Next upload is “my choice”, another from my series of “reflections”. This one is a group of stores in a closed and mostly forgotten strip mall.

The word today is conduct. In my own case, who have spent my whole life in the practice of virtue, right conduct from habitual has become natural. Sallust.  Conduct is three-fourths of our life and its largest concern. Matthew Arnold.  Bad conduct soils the finest ornament more than filth. Plautus.  Conviction never so excellent, is worthless until it coverts itself into conduct. Thomas Carlyle.  I am a radical in thought (and principle) and a conservative in method (and conduct). Rutherford B. Hayes.  Remember upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all. Alexander the Great.  The integrity of men is to be measured by their conduct, not by their professions. Junius.  Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct. Thomas Jefferson. Circumstances are beyond human control, but our conduct is in our own power. Benjamin Disraeli.  Everyone ought to bear patiently the results of his own conduct. Phaedrus.  Whosoever desires constant success must change his conduct with the times. Niccolo Machiavelli.  Respect for right conduct is felt by every body. Jane Austen.

The last upload today is “vehicle”. I have several images in my archives. I came across this was as I was going through. I liked the lines and shapes in this one.

Article: It’s fun and interesting to see how many places there are to see in Ohio many of which are wrapped in history. This article is titled “These Abandoned Coke Ovens Have Been Totally Reclaimed By Nature”. This area is called Cherry Valley Coke Ovens in Leetonia, Ohio. In 1866 there was the Iron and Coal Company in Leetonia, Ohio. At that time the “ coke ovens, blast furnaces, and mill were an economic powerhouse in the area”. The article described the “coke ovens” as a series of “beehive-shaped ovens (that) were used to transform hard coal into coke”. The purpose was the remove “impurities” of the coal. It was the best source for furnaces in the manufacturing of iron and steel. The company closed in 1930 and had been forgotten. In 1993 “a group of concerned citizens decided to clean up the site”. After that it earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places. That also led to “piece of industrial history” becoming  a 10-acre public park. Along with it was an additional 25 acres that serves as a nature preserve. According to the article some have said that the old “ovens” “look(s) like Ohio’s very own Hobbiton”. It says the now “grass covered-structures certainly give off a “Shire” vibe”. It is instructed that you can get a close look at the “historical features” but you can’t get too close. The reason is the “coke ovens have varying structural integrity, which means it’s not safe for visitors to go inside of them”. There is a bike path available that connects the coke ovens to the Greenway Bike Trail which also connects to Lisbon and Washingtonville, Ohio.

I think it will be hamburgers and fries for dinner.
