June 15, 2025 a thought for today, The door of virtues is hard to open. Chinese Proverb

An upload for yesterday was “on a shelf or wall”.  This is one of my hydroponic plants, a weeping fig. It is displaying it roots are healthy and thriving.

Next is “food”. I made this shot after I unloaded my car from the curbside pickup.

The last upload for the 14th was “an object out of place”. These kinds of out of place are more available and obvious that need be.

Life today. We had an invite to dinner last night. It was going to be me, Sue, Luanna and Lowell. Then Matt called to say the he and Jessie and the kids were going through Columbus and would be stopping by. So they joined us.

Church was interesting today. I learned as I got there that there are a couple of things that are going to need group meetings to talk about them. The service was interesting. We had a few more folks today than we have been having. One lady was someone we haven’t seen in quite a long time. I tried to help with a couple of little problems before service started. We’ll see down the line if it turned out if what I mentioned helped.

The first upload for today is “monochrome”. This is one of the neighborhood street. I like black and white occasionally. There is a different feel about them than their in color twins.

I stopped at Wendy’s on my way home. Also stopped to get a couple of photos. That’s when I learned the camera on my Samsung has somehow reset itself. I have lost a feature with filters that I use on occasion. I am going to have to do some research to see if I can fix it. I am glad it is not a feature I use more often.

Next upload is one called “found it like this”. One of the trellis’ that has seen a tough winter and will be happier when straightened for the season.

Lowell stopped by on his way to work. We had a few minutes to chat. He didn’t have time to stay very long. I was having a bit of a problem with one of the “meeting” things we are going to have to have for church. He helped me work through it. I can deal with it a little more calmly now.

I had bought Sue a birthday cake for today but it looks like we are going to have to have it later. She went to visit the twins for the day.

The next upload for today is “mail”. This is just a little of the mail I get, most of it is in advertisements not envelopes I put in dividers.

The word today is consider.  Man should not consider his material possession his own, but as common to all, so as to share them without hesitation when others are in need. Thomas Aquinas.  I am an Epicurean. I consider the genuine (not the imputed) doctrines of Epicurus as containing everything rational in moral philosophy which Greek and Roman leave to us. Thomas Jefferson. A man should always consider how much he has more than he wants. Joseph Addison.  This I consider to be a valuable principle in life: Do no thing in excess. Terence.  Men take only their needs into consideration - never their abilities. Napoleon Bonaparte.  Consideration for others is the basis of a good life, a good society. Confucius.  It is the direction and not the magnitude which is to be taken into consideration. Thomas Paine.  The Christian is the most contented man in the world, but he is the least contented with the world. He is like a traveler in an inn, perfectly satisfied with the inn and its accommodation, considering it as an inn, but putting quite out of all consideration the idea of making it his home. Charles Spurgeon.  Let not things, because they are common, enjoy for that the less share of our consideration. Pliny the Elder.  Turn thy thoughts now to the consideration of thy life, thy life as a child, as a youth, thy manhood, thy old age, for in these also every change was a death. Is this anything to fear? Marcus Aurelius  What would become of all historical biography if it was written only with consideration for other peoples' feelings? Johannes Brahms.  God has arranged everything in the universe in consideration of everything else. Hildegard of Bingen.

The last upload is one in the group that want four photos a day in a month. This challenge is called “seeing spots and dots”. This is one of my “dress up” blouses.

Article: This is another one that I didn’t read clear through before I selected it so I will be learning as I read and “summarize”. The title: “What I learned from my futile battle against Columbus' 'hood' deer”. The author started out by saying that “I was no fool. I began doing my research on deer-resistant plants before the electronic ink dried on the contract for our new house”. Her neighbor watched in concern as she planted her chosen plants listed in her research as deer resistant. Some to the plants that she chose were “too rough for a white-tailed deer's tongue or too smelly for its long nasal passage”. Another neighbor told her “these hood deer are different" as he walked away chuckling. Then she also wondered what he meant by a ‘hood’ deer. In her learning experiences about deer she realized that “deer, in my mind at least, are a very suburban, exurban or rural thing. Not a concern for us urbans in our lavish concrete jungles”. In her thinking if deer wandered into a neighborhood it was fun and cute. She decided as she planted her chosen and carefully studied collection and the words her neighbors had shared, “how ‘gangster’ could these deer be?” She eventually concluded, “plenty ‘gangsta’ when it comes to deer-resistant plants”. She saw a young deer and named him Charlie. She caught him in her newly planted garden with a “gleam in his eye” showing that he had eaten some of her marigolds and coneflowers. She said as he ran off that she could imagine him saying “This is my hood" as similar from the story Bambi. Then he came back for seconds and thirds. She now realizes deer are around the city and have been for years as her neighbors had told her. There are studies in cities on how best to get rid of them in urban neighborhoods. She says she now has deer repellent on her deck. She has transplanted her “marigolds, coneflowers and bee balm and sprayed deer repellent on everything”. She doesn’t want anything to happen to ‘Charlie”. She also realizes they need o be controlled for safety sake too.

My dinner will be a bit different tonight, fried bologna and mac and cheese.

Joy
