September 13, 2025 a thought for the day, You can't carry what you can’t lift.  Latvian Proverb

My first upload for yesterday was “a bottle”. I have several “bottles” (not the alcoholic kind) around the house. I guess it was some sort of “mood” that urged me to pick this particular “bottle”.

The second upload was “my choice” and another of my series of “peeling paint
or rust”.  This was another of the ones I picked from my trip down a back alley.

The last upload was “car”. I would have liked a nice vintage automobile or one of the very rich styles and types but, alas, none available. I went through the kids toys box and found these.

Life today. So far this is a nice Saturday. Sweet Pea and I have the curbside pick up done and, actually put away. On our way home we looked for and found a couple of the photos I need for today. Just a side note, on the photo search we sighted a couple of new “homeless camps”.

I think the “agony” of setting up a new computer is over or at least under control. As usual with anything “new” I have learned some interesting things. Some of my old ways were not working as they had in the past so I had to spend time and “torture” finding a way to make them work. I am finding some are working even better others not so much but I am adapting. I am now using Windows 11 a step up from Windows 10 on the older computer. The Microsoft Office and my old stand-by WordPerfect seem to have some newer features. They are working a little differently in this version of Windows than with the older version. I have a very old version of a filter I often use in Photoshop. It is not on this “new” computer.  I bought it several years ago. I found that since I had purchased it previously I could re-download it free. That was a happy experience.

The first upload was “a door”. This is not a fancy door or one with outstanding architectural features, just a door.

I am attempting to upload my work to an additional enterprise. I am using some of my previous work and putting more editing into it so that it will fit in a new space. I am learning while building. I hope that it will be a success in the end.

I’m going to change activities now to making a meat loaf and work with some photos.

The next upload is “she’s old!”. Well, this one gave more than a pause for thought. I just went around looking for something old.

A word for the day is  giving.  Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu.  For it is in giving that we receive. Francis of Assisi.  You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving. Robert Louis Stevenson.  Justice consists in doing no injury to men; decency in giving them no offense. Marcus Tullius Cicero.  Giving is true having. Charles Spurgeon.  I saw that giving even all my life to God (supposing it possible to do this and go no further) would profit me nothing unless I gave my heart, yea, all my heart, to Him. John Wesley.  To think well and to consent to obey someone giving good advice are the same thing. Herodotus.  The true secret of giving advice is, after you have honestly given it, to be perfectly indifferent whether it is taken or not, and never persist in trying to set people right. Henry Ward Beecher.  I hate the giving of the hand unless the whole man accompanies it. Ralph Waldo Emerson.  No man lives without jostling and being jostled; in all ways he has to elbow himself through the world, giving and receiving offence. Thomas Carlyle.

The last upload for today is “food”.  This was handy. When I got home from the store I unbagged all the food and here they are.

Article: Here is another good place to visit near our city especially around apple picking time. Besides picking our own apples, they also offer the apple shooting range adding another bit of adventure. The title is:  “U-Pick? More Like U-Launch! Try The Apple Cannons At This Ohio Farm”. From what I have read it is a place where there is something a “whole family can enjoy”. This is about  the activity on the Lynd Fruit Farm where of sharing in the apple picking activity that was established in the early 20th century. They have added the  “attraction” of an apple shooting range. Along with picking apples you can “launch” them from a cannon toward targets “downrange”.  As I understand it there are “giant chimes” that make a different sound when one of the “flying apple” hits. The article gives the day and time for the cannon adventure as Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 6, weather permitting. It began on August 16 this year and goes through the apple picking season. The “apple ammunition” can be purchased in sets of 3, 10, and 20 and more. At the Lynd Fruit Farm you can also enjoy the “S’miles of Sunflowers Festival”. This activity allows you to walk through its sunflower fields. There is a $10 charge for this adventure. That fee also excludes a wagon ride and a kids’ zone. Another of the activities on the farm is a corn maze as well as the personal apple picking.

I am thinking of making a meat loaf and mashed potatoes for dinner.
