September 9, 2025 a thought for the day, A good deed is written on snow. Estonian Proverb
Life today. Whenever I get a new computer it takes more than one day to get it the way I need it. So be it today. I finally got Publisher loaded and set up. Now comes all of the key strokes the old computer “saved” for me after times and times of use. The new computer has to get use to those. The problem for me is that they have been set on the old computer for so long that I have forgotten the nuances of some of the strokes. It will take a while for it all to come together.
I was able to get the bulletin done and sent on its way. But for anything else, the new computer “commands” are a little different.
My first upload for today is “a tree”. I couldn’t choose one so we have three here. In my neighborhood you can hardy take a photo of one tree without getting others in the scene unless it is a macro. That is pretty much the way the whole day has gone. I have been transferring things from one computer to the other both things on the computer and things in the computers. Some of that will be going on for some time, a little less each day.
I have not been able to do much else. Maybe tomorrow will be a little less hectic.
The next upload today is another “my choice” and another in my series of “peeling paint or rust”.The word today is granted. Belief is a wise wager. Granted that faith cannot be proved, what harm will come to you if you gamble on its truth and it proves false? If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing. Wager, then, without hesitation, that He exists. Blaise Pascal. I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: 'O Lord make my enemies ridiculous.' And God granted it. Voltaire. Never take anything for granted. Benjamin Disraeli. Say just what you mean to do on every occasion, and take it for granted you mean to do right. Robert E. Lee. Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider. Francis Bacon. What a cruel thing is war: to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbors, and to devastate the fair face of this beautiful world. Robert E. Lee. Lord, grant that I might not so much seek to be loved as to love. Francis of Assisi. Grant me some wild expressions, Heavens, or I shall burst. George Farquhar. Lord, grant that I may always desire more than I can accomplish. Michelangelo. Grant us a brief delay; impulse in everything is but a worthless servant. Caecilius Statius. The fact is I am growing old too fast, alas! I feel it, and yet work I will, and may God grant me life to see the last plate of my mammoth work finished. John James Audubon. The fact is I am growing old too fast, alas! I feel it, and yet work I will, and may God grant me life to see the last plate of my mammoth work finished. John James Audubon.
The last upload is “swing”. It is my porch swing. I have had a porch swing on my front porch all the time I have lived in this house. This is the third one, I think.Article: This may be yet another place to visit in our growing city. I like the idea of parks and greenery, nature in general. This article is: “This New Metro Park Will Have A 100-Foot Slide, A Stage, And Room For 10,000 People.” This sounds like this one will be the biggest parks in our area. Like that author said “unlike any park Columbus has seen before”. It is presently under construction at Bank Run Metro Park near Lockbourne. According to the article there are two renovated lodges. apparently they were already there but have been renovated and probably in a major way for something this “grand”. It will be so large that there can be community gatherings and festivals, weddings, reunions and of course what can be found in most parks a “healthy dose of nature”. The setting of the park is166 acres along Big Walnut Creek. This area use to be called Hoover Y Park located on an old quarry. In that park as it was before the new renovations began there was an old giant slide. There were trails with a wood fort and lots of room to explore. The new slide will be 100 feet long. There are two lodges with “with warming kitchens and room for 99 people each”. They are erecting a large shelter where up to299 people can meet. There will be a stage with “hookups” for live presentations. Like most parks there are trails. These trails “loop” around a quarry lake. The lake allows for kayaking and paddleboarding. One thing that sets it off is a wedding gazebo. Again, as with most parks, there is picnicking and green space. The article ended with saying it’s a place for a “new generation of kids will make memories...”.
Mac and cheese for dinner.
