September 11, 2025 a thought for today, It's a long way from words to deeds. Latvian Proverb
The first upload for yesterday was “purple”. Purple seems to be one of the more difficult colors for me to find. I happened to be driving down an alley yesterday and found a whole “field” of this purple flowers along with another “field” of another purple flower in a yard close to this one.
The thirst upload was “hat”. I have a few hats in the house. I was looking for one with a brim but no such luck. I picked this one that was one of Bob’s favorite.
Life today. This has been a pretty good Thursday. I printed the bulletin and got it distributed before the Thursday group came in. I have been doing a little cleaning here and there. I had some things I have found that belonged to the church, I had forgotten to take them back. I also had a bag of things for the church’s annual fall sale that will come up next month. I dropped all of those items in the appropriate places.
While I was waiting for the computer to warm up I called the vet. I wanted to see if I could get Sweet Pea some mild pain meds for her arthritis without having to go for testing. They said the doctor would call me. I was hoping to pick something up on my way home. (He didn’t call until after I had gotten home). After the church I dropped off the mail on the way home and got gas at the filling station.
After I was home for a while the doctor called. He said I could pick up some medicine for her without an appointment at this time. I waited for about an hour and left to pick it up along with a refill on Phenobarbital .
The next upload was “a clock”. This was from one of my mothers collections. This Mickey Mouse clock has been in the family for maybe fifty years or more.Still to go before the day ends, water plants (no rain for several days), some out dated things out of the freezer since it will be pickup time tomorrow, and a few minutes on the “spring clean up”. After that fold laundry. Then dinner and done.
The next upload for today is one of the “my choice” and one of my series of “peeling paint or rust”. It looks like rusty nail holes but I don’t think so since this is the back of a concert block garage near the shopping mall. The word today is general. In general, mankind, since the improvement of cookery, eats twice as much as nature requires. Benjamin Franklin. Liberty cannot be preserved without general knowledge among the people. John Adams. Our prayers should be for blessings in general, for God knows best what is good for us. Socrates. I think that is a better thing than thanksgiving: thanks-living. How is this to be done? By a general cheerfulness of manner, by an obedience to the command of Him by whose mercy we live, by a perpetual, constant delighting of ourselves in the Lord, and by a submission of our desires to His will. Charles Spurgeon. As a general rule, the most successful man in life is the man who has the best information. Benjamin Disraeli. To penetrate and dissipate these clouds of darkness, the general mind must be strengthened by education. Thomas Jefferson. General principles... are to the facts as the root and sap of a tree are to its leaves. Samuel Taylor Coleridge. We cannot seek or attain health, wealth, learning, justice or kindness in general. Action is always specific, concrete, individualized, unique. Benjamin Jowett.
The last upload today is “grandparents”. This image is a photo of a pencil sketch that my sister did of our grandfather and grandmother with our father.Article: This sounds like another place to explore in our state. This one should be exciting. One can take an “adventure”. The title to the article is: “ All Aboard This Scenic Train Ride Through Hocking Hills This Fall”. As the author mentioned the Hocking Hills are a great place to visit. I was fascinated every time we would visit when I was a kid. What the article is talking about is a special feature that some may not be aware of, the “historic” train ride. It is noted that the train ride can be “an old-world, romantic vibe”. There is an open air car and a “first class” car. This train has been in action moving through the scenery of southeastern Ohio since 1972. The train system is “maintained” by volunteers. The ride begins in th “Nelsonville Depot. It runs on Thursdays and Fridays, at 1:00, then on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 and 2:30. This begins on October 2 which makes it a good time for a view of the fall foliage. There are other things to do in and around the town of Nelsonville. There is the “Nelsonville Historic Square Arts District”. There is a restaurant serving farm-to-table featuring “highlights Appalachian cuisine”. There is an Opera House that have been restored for concerts and more. Another place to visit while in the area you is the Hocking Hills State Park near Nelsonville. In the park there is Old Man’s Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave. There is an area to enjoy zip lining and another for picnics not to mention also the hikes and multiple view of gorgeous scenery.
Spaghetti and salad for dinner.
