August 30, 2025 a thought for today, Wasting time is robbing oneself. Estonian Proverbs

My first upload for yesterday was “my choice” and another of my “touch of color” series. This one is of the standard blue drop mail boxes.

The second upload for yesterday was “use a different camera”. Instead of my now trusty Samsung 24 camera I used my Sony 100RX100 for this one as I was sitting under the patio umbrella while I was joining Sweet Pea in the back yard.

The last upload for yesterday was “lucky find”. That was the barely visible penny in the mulch.

Life today. Saturdays have been a special day in my life since I was in elementary school. Probably then because it was the day to let go of the last week, maybe sleep in, maybe enjoy to outdoors bike riding or roller skating or rolling down the front terrace or hide and seek. The feel of special still holds on, maybe the end of a work week, (not now....retired), nonetheless special for some reason. Memories are probably the biggest part of the feel. At this time in life, sitting on the porch swing remembering feels good.

Sweet Pea and I have the groceries picked up and on the counter ready to put away. I got some of the photos I need for today on the way home.

The first photo challenge upload today is “favorite thing today”. I used this one as I was on my way home from the grocery pickup. It is a neighborhood street in this peaceful and well kept area of town.

I will be going out again soon. I will be meeting a friend at church to unlock some doors for her. She is hosting a baby shower. I’ll stay for a little while to help her get ready for her guests.

The next upload for today is “shadows”. This one was taken while I was out and about. I think it is a cigarette disposal item with it’s shadow in the wall.

The word today is force.  It is not by muscle, speed, or physical dexterity that great things are achieved, but by reflection, force of character, and judgment. Marcus Ptyalize Cicero. Justice without force is powerless; force without justice is tyrannical. Blaise Pascal.  Force and fraud are in war the two cardinal virtues. Thomas Hobbes.  Pursue one great decisive aim with force and determination. Carl von Clausewitz.  Persuasion is often more effectual than force. Aesop.  Great men are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material force - that thoughts rule the world. Ralph Waldo Emerson. Our patience will achieve more than our force. Edmund Burke.  Water is the driving force of all nature. Leonardo da Vinci.  An object in motion tends to remain in motion along a straight line unless acted upon by an outside force. Isaac Newton.  Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets; art deserves that, for it and knowledge can raise man to the Divine. Ludwig van Beethoven.  Force has no place where there is need of skill. Herodotus.  Force may subdue, but love gains, and he that forgives first wins the laurel. William Penn.  Love is a binding force, by which another is joined to me and cherished by myself. Thomas Aquinas.  Nothing made by brute force lasts. Robert Louis Stevenson.  A multitude of causes unknown to former times are now acting with a combined force to blunt the discriminating powers of the mind, and unfitting it for all voluntary exertion to reduce it to a state of almost savage torpor. William Wordsworth.  Hence no force, however great, can stretch a cord, however fine, into a horizontal line which is accurately straight: there will always be a bending downwards. William Whewell.  Force does not constitute right... obedience is due only to legitimate powers. Jean-Jacques Rousseau.  There is great force hidden in a gentle command. George Herbert.

The last challenge upload for today is “off the beaten path”. This is also a shot I made while out and about this morning. It is a short alley near a main shopping mall.

Article: This is another story about a unique place to visit in Ohio. The title to this one is “The Largest Open-Work Geodesic Dome In The World Is Right Here In Ohio”. The structure this article it describing is located at the ASM International headquarters at Materials Park in Novelty, OH. The item in the discussion is said to be a “crazy, wonderful, beautiful geodesic dome”. The dome was built in 1959. The ASM International is a “professional organization for materials scientists and engineers”. In 2009 the site was named to the National Register of Historic Places. There were renovations to preserve the history and make it ready for any future “innovations in materials science”. The dome is made of “extruded” aluminum pipe. It is 103 feet tall and 250 feet around. It weighs near 80 tones and has over 65,000 parts. There is a stainless steel sun shield, numerous louvers to control the suns rays, and an “environmentally friendly green roof”. At the site there is a state of the art “materials laboratory and classroom facility”. The office building that is located under the dome is not open to the public. The interesting grounds under and around the dome are.

I am going to have a Helper Cup from Hamburger Helper for dinner.
