January 10, 2025 a thought for today, Words that come from the heart enter the heart. Hebrew Proverb

The first upload for yesterday was “challenging to photograph”. There are several things that are ‘challenging” to photography and that I have to study or research. One of them is shopping rain drops without being out of focus.

The second upload was “cat”. I don’t have a cat anymore. I use to have two of them. This is one of my grand daughter’s two Sphynx hairless cats.

The last upload for yesterday was “a kitchen bench”. I wasn’t sure what was meant by a kitchen bench. So I looked it up. This photo club that I belong to is based in Australia. The kitchen bench (a flat, horizontal surface in a kitchen that's used for food preparation or dining) there is a counter top here. This is some of the kinds of thing we learn by joining friends not here in the US.

Life today. I am tired of the snow....well, mostly the cold. I really do like the change of seasons but not necessarily their individual length....in that light, winters could be a little shorter from my view point, at least todays view point.

Because we are getting a prediction of even more measurable snow for tomorrow, I changed my curbside grocery pick up. I have found that there are some things that you can not do on the ipad that you can do on a computer. That being said, I made up my mind about changing my grocery pick up date from Saturday to today after I had shut the computer down for the day yesterday and from my easy chair to boot. I thought, oh heck why not give it a try, ordering the groceries online. It was easy and didn’t take any longer than it would have from the computer. I decided to do it last night because I didn’t know what the cut off time would have been if I tried doing it in the morning and getting a morning pick up. It all worked out great.

The first upload for today is “a fave place”. I am comfortable and at this particular spot most of my waking hours.

Sweet Pea and I made it out at the usual time a day early. Now I am ready for the new snow fall. It’s really pretty when it’s new and undisturbed. With the new snow fall getting to church on Sunday may be questionable.

I didn’t have any particular to-do list for today so everything else is pretty slow and easy for the day. I still have a few grocers to put away. It seems I am nursing a head cold so the to-do list is good for the day. I think I picked up this cold by going in and out for short periods without a coat. I am old enough to know better also old enough to be hard headed.

The next upload for today is “wintery window view”. This is a car window view. I took it when I was out and about before the next snow fall.

The word today is resist.   Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like. Lao Tzu. Fate leads him who follows it, and drags him who resist. Plutarch.  We gain the strength of the temptation we resist. Ralph Waldo Emerson.  It's easier to resist at the beginning than at the end. Leonardo da Vinci.  I have brought myself, by long meditation, to the conviction that a human being with a settled purpose must accomplish it, and that nothing can resist a will which will stake even existence upon its fulfillment. Benjamin Disraeli.  A desire to resist oppression is implanted in the nature of man. Tacitus.  As long as I retain my feeling and my passion for Nature, I can partly soften or subdue my other passions and resist or endure those of others. Lord Byron.  Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it. Lao Tzu.  The ordeal of virtue is to resist all temptation to evil. Thomas Malthus.  Every moment of resistance to temptation is a victory. Frederick William Faber. Weight, force and casual impulse, together with resistance, are the four external powers in which all the visible actions of mortals have their being and their end. Leonardo da Vinci.  Men as well as rivers grow crooked by following the path of least resistance. Thomas Jefferson.  Do not conquer the world with force, for force only causes resistance. Thorns spring up when an army passes. Years of misery follow a great victory. Do only what needs to be done without using violence. Laozi.  Change is as inexorable as time, yet nothing meets with more resistance. Benjamin Disraeli.

Another upload for today is “make me smile”. Sweet Pea looking at the snow. She looks at all she can when she gets to take ride in the car.

This article is talking about one way to see the world. It seems like a way to see places that are not often visited. The title is: “Could the Buckeye Trail Become Ohio’s Next National Scenic Trail? It goes on to mention that the Ohio’s Buckeye Trail may make its way to “ranking” with tow famous trails now in use.....the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails. The National Park Service is checking out the possibility in a study now underway. The plan being considered is a trail “stretching a whopping 1,454 miles”. The stretch include Ohio’s landscapes to the beaches of Lake Erie, to the “Black Hand sandstone cliffs near Hocking Hills”. It was built between 1959 and 1980. “The National Park Service is evaluating whether the Buckeye Trail has what it takes to become a National Scenic Trail (NST)”. This “status” would “ensure greater resources and recognition for our trail, enriching lives and fostering even greater volunteerism, sustainable tourism, and incomparable outdoor recreation opportunities around Ohio.” This “status” is an official recognition from Congress. There are eleven other National Scenic Trails in the country all managed by federal and state agencies.  The Buckeye Trail is “farmland, forest, and cliffs”. According to the article it already shares part of the North Country Trail. The North CounryTrail is one of the longest National Scenic Trails in the US. The study will “assess whether the trail aligns with nine key criteria, such as preservation, public access, and its recreational value”.

The last photo challenge upload for today is another when I have a fourth daily upload. This one is “song lyric”. I found the photo I wanted to us before I chose a song title and lyrics. I named this one “wild and free”.

Rather than DoorDash or GrubHub tonight I think it will be Salmon patties and Waldorf salad for dinner.
