January 16, 2025 a thought for today,  When scholars vie, wisdom mounts. Hebrew Proverb

The first upload for yesterday was “simple”. This is one of the gnomes I have in my hydroponic house plant garden. The gnomes and there small ‘home’ that I have in the garden is a simple display and makes for a peaceful place.

The next upload is “landscape”. It is one of my most frequented landscapes. Almost every day I am on this part of my city.

The third upload for yesterday is “mostly about snow”. For some reason I liked the lone tree branch in the snow.

The last upload is “black and white”.  This is another of the four days in the
month that I have a extra photo a day upload. This one seems a little ‘busy’ to me. Besides the black and white feature I like the reflections.

Life today. Sue and I got to spend the day with two of my great grandchildren yesterday.  I was a little anxious about it since I haven’t had young children around me for any length of time in several years. As it turned out I had nothing to worry about. They were perfect. I’ll have to admit I was a tiny bit weaker after they were picked up to go back to grandma and grandpas from wanting everything to be perfect for them too. They seemed relaxed and happy. They brought a tote of toys, food, and activities with them. They also found toys we have here that the twins have left that they found interesting. We even took time to make a smoothie from fruits, cool whip and a touch of milk. I think they were surprised that great grandma knew how to do that, they said they were “hummmm” too. (I have to admit I was also reminded how I have aged.)

I think we will be having a bit of a break in the old temps. And I think it will be a bit of a bit, like two or three days with the cold coming back with a vengeance. Today is supposed to be at 32 degrees and the next two may get us to 36 degrees. We had a very light snow fall some time during the night.

The first upload for today is “fire”. Recently I have done candles, a fire on the gas stove and matches for a photo upload of fire. This time I chose th use a word relating the fire so as to meet the assignment. Instead it the fire is out.

I got the bulletin printed and chatted with Patti for a while. It felt good being there after not being in the church for several days.

I am meeting with Beth to settle things with transferring the title to the car today. I am the kind of person, maybe considered a wimp, who needs other people for support in more than minor things moving along on what may otherwise to other people be ho-hum or just less than traumatic. I didn’t know what the weather reminiscences would be in other neighborhoods either so I wanted Lowell to be with me, he had to be at work. I asked Sue to go with me. A good point to that is she will get a visit with a couple of our cousins too.  Albeit a short visit.

The meeting won’t be until later in the afternoon so I have some tasks to get done first. At the top of the list is this weeks laundry, in the dryer as I “speak”. Photos have been through the “darkroom” and are ready for upload.

The second upload for today is “9 o’clock”. I was working on the bulletin at church when the clock struck 9:00am, just when I snapped this photo.

The word today is reveal. There are no secrets that time does not reveal. Jean Racine.  The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own. Benjamin Disraeli.  The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in music, and it has the additional merit of being human and palpable. Dancing is poetry with arms and legs. Charles Baudelaire.  In our leisure we reveal what kind of people we are. Ovid.  Seek not to know what must not be reveal, for joy only flows where fate is most concealed. A busy person would find their sorrows much more; if future fortunes were known before! John Dryden.  Books can only reveal us to ourselves, and as often as they do us this service we lay them aside. Henry David Thoreau.  Truth is always in harmony with herself, and is not concerned chiefly to reveal the justice that may consist with wrong-doing. Henry David Thoreau.  Talent is a gift which God has given us secretly, and which we reveal without perceiving it. Montesquieu.  Words, like nature, half reveal and half conceal the soul within. Alfred Lord Tennyson,  A host is like a general: calamities often reveal his genius. Horace.  Circumstance does not make the man. Circumstance reveals man to himself. Ralph Waldo Emerson.  Poetry is something to make us wiser and better, by continually revealing those types of beauty and truth, which God has set in all men's souls. James Russell Lowell.

The last upload for today is “it’s icy!”. What better way to show icy that ice sickles.

Article: I keep hearing more and more about drones and that Rickenbacker is included in the story. I was hoping for more to add to my knowledge about drones with this article. I am just beginning to read it and find that there is a bit more to it than just drones. Here is the title: Ohio lands drones, 4,000 jobs, Factory at Rickenbacker will be largest job-creation project in state history. The opening of the article mentions Pickaway County as the place that will employ the 4,000 workers. It also mentions making other items for the military. The factory is reported to be the “largest single job-creation project in Ohio history, according to state officials”. The factory will be built in a few weeks on 500 acres south of Rickenbacker International Airport. They plan to be in production by the middle of 2026. They are saying Ohio is perfect for this project due to the “existing military industry, and especially the proximity of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base”. Adding to that there is “the state’s supportive business climate, ready-made workforce, and legacy of military and federal support”. One of the initial priorities will be for the company’s Fury drone”. When this goes program goes on to mention that this brings Anduril, decence contractors, to land among central Ohio’s top 10 private employers. An additional 4,500 jobs would be added in the next decade. I learned from the article that the business that is bringing this to Ohio is named Anduril which is named for “the sword of Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings”. They focus on advanced technology including drones, robots and surveillance equipment. Ohio has the Intel plant, Amazon, and Honda plant and other large industries now in our state.

I think I will pick up dinner at McDonalds since Sue and I will be out about that time.

Joy
